After installing latst 8756 nvidia driver, the following errors have occured:

ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> Link [LNKA] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86 Kernel Module 1.0-8756 Wed Mar 29 14:26:26 PST 2006

i2c_adapter i2c-3: SMBus Quick command not supported, can't probe for chips

This might be a conflict with lmsensors.

Thumbs up Re: SMBus Quick command not supported

I have found a fix for this problem.
I was using debian, and the directory structure for the Xorg's distribution has been suffering many changes. Apparently, the nvidia installer can not correctly install the new modules for the X server, that tries to load its own glx module unsuccessfully.
Go to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions
and there rename the file libglx.so.1.0.8276 to libglx.so
If you still have problems, remove the kernel module eeprom.
Regards.

Default Re: SMBus Quick command not supported

@arjonais: the (X) server-side GLX extension module is not part of the NVIDIA Linux graphics driver's Linux/i2c interface.

@Cym: this is a known problem; support for (some) SMBus protocol will be added in a future NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release.
