Default use of beamer on a laptop

I have Toshiba Qosmio F20 laptop with nvidia GeForce 6600 and a LCD panel with resolution 1280x800

I want to be able to use a projector with this laptop but I cannot get both display: on the LCD panel and through the projector.

I made 2 xorg.conf files and I am able to use a projector but, in that case, there is no diplay on the laptop panel.

I run Fedora Core 4.

Does my problem have a solution?

Thank you for any advice.

PS. I use the nvidia driver from nvidia (not the rpm from livna)
