Default dxdiag says Direct3D is not functional :(

hi all,

please someone help me.

i am trying to program using Ogre. In order for me to do this, i need Direct3D9. So, i downloaded the Direct3D9 SDK.

but when i run any Ogre apps, i am getting an exception "Direct3D Device Not Found".

so, i ran dxdiag, and it tells me that "Direct3D9 functionality is not available".

its doing my nut. why is it saying this? its on my machine, i can see it!

could it be my graphics card/driver? i have an Acer 1362 laptop (quite old) and the Display Adapter shown in Device Manager is Via/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP. I have installed the latest drivers just now, but still get the same problem.

i would really appreciate any help here.

Assuming you're talking about the Ogre 3D API, your video card isn't going to support it. Here is the Wiki for the software suite and right at the top of the page it lists what hardware is supported. Looks like you're out of luck.
