Windows Antivirus2006?

Wtf is this? Keeps popping up randomly here and there when i browse the net. Each time it comes up..i run spybot and it removes it..but later comes back..

Is this the spyware thing that gets picked up from advertising things?

Are you talking about the annoying "Security Center" popup that you have to see each time windows starts becuase you didnt update your antivirus or something ...

Otherwise, i have never heard of a popup saying "Windows Antivirus2006" . It might very well be adware/spyware. Try Ad-Aware Se by lavasoft to remove it. It's a great software.

If that doesnt solve it, you can use msconfig to figure out which programs are scheduled at startup and then recognize the exe and its location which says this. This way you can try to manually remove it.

If you have a screenshot of the popup then that might help recognize the problem further..

ive seen it before on my other comps, make sure all ur **** is uipdated and turned on. if u still get it im almost positive it is some form of spyware/adware

It gets picked up by Spybot. The ZA Spyware one blows..dosen't pick it up..and i use Firefox with the latest update. Kinda annoying..but everytime i exit my browser i run spybot..it seems this spyware crap is gonna need a fix soon from M$

Honestly SpyBot and AdAware all blow when compared to Webroot SpySweeper, I would honestly try that.

Ubuntu seems to be the biggest fix for spyware at the moment...
