The problem I'm having is that my metamode gets changed from dual screen (1280x1024, 1280x1024) to single screen (1280x1024, NULL) as soon as I log in from KDM to KDE. I put the metamode line in to try to get single-screen UT2004 to work without having to restart X after making changes to xorg.conf
I'm using nvidia version 1.0-8762 and KDE 3.5.3 with Xorg 7.0.0 and kernel 2.6.15-26-686 SMP, all from Ubuntu Dapper repositories. Below is the relevant sections of my xorg.conf, and I've attached the full xorg.conf, nvidia-installer.log, and Xorg.0.log logfile. In that file, the last line is me switching back to dualscreen with "xrandr -s 2560x1024". This brings me back to dualscreen, but my 2 screens show the same wallpaper, when they should be different, and windows don't recognize the monitor boundary when I maximize them. They stretch fullscreen instead. I'm hoping someone who is more knowledgeable than me can help me get this working. Does anybody know what I can do to keep TwinView from switching metamodes on me like it is in the Xorg.0.log? |

This ended up not being a TwinView bug, but actually one in KDE itself. See http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131197 for info.
