So today came the ForceWare 91.45. Quad SLi targeted pack, nothing special. Except one thing... yes, you guessed it. It's Transparent AA!
You still don't belive it? Read ahead... Test performed using ForceWare 91.45 drivers and Gainward GeForce 6600GT AGP 8x 128MB (550/1080). CS:S Piranesi map was excellent for this test. Images are compressed with JPG at 100% quality. Transparent AA setting in NV CP (also available in new panel) ![]() 4x FSAA / Transparent AA OFF ![]() 4x FSAA / Transparent AA ON (SuperSampling) ![]() If you're still having hard time finding differences, check these two screenshots with marked objects that require your attention... 4x FSAA / Transparent AA OFF ![]() 4x FSAA / Transparent AA ON (SuperSampling) ![]() So bottom line, GeForce 6 series cards are indeed capable of anti-aliasing alpha textures using supersampling. Why is NVIDIA hidding this from us is beyond my understanding. Boosting GeForce 7 sales because of this? I'm sure a lot of people with GeForce 6 will feel like this ...So i truly hope Transparent AA will become a standard option in all upcoming ForceWare drivers even for GeForce 6 series... Have fun ![]()

Actually GeForce 7 series support this feature by default :P
But yes, it looks sweet. I liked it a lot on my former Radeon 9600 Pro (Adaptive AA). And now i can also enjoy it on my 6600GT ![]()

Where did you get the modded .inf?
Edit: Nevermind, I bet you got them from Guru3D. But they don't modify them for laptop GPUs. Gotta wait for laptopvideo2go to post theirs. |

Indeed it works finally. GeForce6 was always capable of doing some sort of TAA. I think NVIDIA delayed it because they wanted more people to upgrade to GeForce7.

Btw, also post link to your picture for some more comparison screenshots...
Also any chance for TAA settings to find way into your tweak tool (NVTray) ?
