I don't want to get you drunk, but, ah, that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking.

Don't laugh, but here it goes:

My current server/workstation setup, socket 939 based, is effectively shot into the back of the neck by NVidia via dropping support for GeForce FX 5x00 cards in the current drivers. I need a PCI one for the third head and since newer PCI cards aren't forsale anywhere, this pops the lid of an upgrade chain to a mainboard with 2 or more PCIe x16 slots.

My current approach is to use my BadAxe 3.04 which is about the only 975x board that I have seen does everything I need and is really stable.

So, what did I order? 4x 2 GB ECC unreg Kingston DDR2 from Newegg. Works well in the BadAxe.

Next item will be several ATI cards. By the time of the next touching of that machine I want to know how usable exactly the Xorg drivers are for the R500 (or hopefully newer by then).
