Unstable sync with DFP; CRT OK

Hi,

I have a 7300GS driving a ViewSonic VP201b flat panel connected to the DVI output. Intermittently, I lose sync: the picture flickers and ultimately the monitor will switch off complaining about "no signal". This will go away over a reboot.
This does not happen when the card drives my old VS P95 CRT, whether it be connected to the VGA output or to the DVI output using an adapter.
This also does not happen in XP on the same hardware.
I am using the 1.0-8762 drivers on xorg 6.9 on SuSE 10.1. Any suggestion on what to look at?
