I own an Asus a8n-vm csm. It runs fine under gentoo linux. I just purchased an MSI 7600GS w/ dual dvi. passively cooled---I don't do much 3D. my ultimate goal is to do a 3 monitor setup, using the DVI from the onboard for one monitor, and the two DVIs from the MSI for another one.
alas, as soon as I plug the MSI card in, the on-board graphics output plays dead. I can't see it either at bios time, or at linux time. as to VGA compatible controllers, I only see (lspci): 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 0392 (rev a1) no other VGA card shows up. do I have to run a configuration for this card to make this happen? do I have to enable palette snooping or assign IRQs? any help and advice would be appreciated. sincerely, /iaw |
