Hi.
It looks like you guys can help me out. Before XGL, I ran my system without nVIDIA drivers, because my loading animation for my mouse would flicker. I never needed the drivers, as I dual boot my machine for gaming. Now, I'm using XGL, and my mouse is flickering when it's on the loading animation. Does anyone know how I can resolve this, or remove the animation? I tried a software mouse, but, it makes large bricks around my mouse, which is even more annoying. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to post here. =] |

Also, I have an NVIDIA FX5500 card and Athlon64 3500+ on a Fedora Core 5 32bit system.

I have tried combinations of HWCursor being True, False, as well as SWCursor being undefined, True, False, etc...
Anyone have a solution to this? This is really bugging me, if I can't fix it I will have to do without the drivers and XGL. :/ |

My brother's computer is running OpenSuse 10.1/GF6600 and suffers from the same problem - my older athlon-1000/FX5200 works well.
Its a bit ugly - on the GF6600 aubpixel-aa is terribly slow and now another nerving thing :-/ lg Clemens |

It is a known bug, that still exists after several driver updates. Not sure why a mouse flicker issue cannot be fixed, but support for a whole new API was added.
Hopefully the 9xxx driver fixes this issue... |

I can get rid of the flicker with HWCursor false and SWCursor true. Unforutunately pairing this with composite crashes X for me. Not sure if XGL/Compiz needs the composite extension or not: I think it composites itself in the nested server it uses.
Anyway, it's been bugging me for a long time. I should know better, but I am surprised every time a new driver version comes out and this ancient bug still exists. |

As has been discussed on other threads on this forum for the same issue, this bug will be fixed in the first 1.0-9xxx driver release.
Thanks, Lonni |

This is seriously driving me up a wall. My birthday is in a few days, and I'm thinking about splurging for a 6800 or 7x card to make sure this goes away... I could use an upgrade, anyway...
