Ebay seems your best bet.

Over this way 7800GTs are going all the time getting close to $450AUD (Even when they are going for $350 in stores)

*Shakes head*

I see no sense in what Tikiman just did, but I'll admit that XFX card is pretty damn sweet with the passive cooling.

From what I read last, there is no guarantee that any owner will be able to "step-up" to a next-gen card through eVGA. There were several people recently who were wanting to and were told they couldn't. I forget what the reason was, but quite a few were disappointed.

The overclock for the XFX card was as expected very low for the core. It simply is getting too hot to overclock. Memory wise you can do a nice trick though as you can get it over 1500 MHz. Yet since the core is hot, the PCB will be hot and when the PCB is hot, the memory and it's data paths will be hot. The passive cooling is limiting tweaking bigtime here.

Let's have a look at the Point of View card.

Point of View GeForce 7950 GT

Maximum overclock
591 MHz 1606 MHz

Nice, here we see a decent core overclock, yet that memory is where the sweet spot is as you can take it to 1600 MHz easily, this little tweak will bring you another 10% overall performance and bring the card close to GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB performance !

Although not for sale we also OCed the reference model and was promising at a 613 MHz core and 1648 MHz memory frequency! Have a look below where you are are looking at Prey at 4xAA and 16xAF with the cards in at default results and overclocked.
Wow! 591 and 1606.

Yeah, it's for looks only, obviously. That kind of cooling is never as effective, otherwise more would use it.

I love it when people throw out generalizations like these. As if you can't overclock the GTX and widen the gap in performance again?

Although from the benchies it would seem it doesn't make since for me to buy the card I will be getting 3 games with the card. Not to mention these cards run much cooler. I'm just glad to be back to EVGA. I know this might still not make since to you Xion X2, but I am happy.

Hey man, that's all that matters. I'm just weighing in with my opinion.

If it were me and I still had my GX2, I wouldn't have done it--although it looks like two 7950GT's outperform a single GX2 by a little (which I didn't expect at all. Not sure why?) You could install a 10$ fan or two to blow on the GX2 to keep it cooler instead of laying another 600$ on the table with:

1) No guarantee of a price-buy on the GX2 you already have

2) No guarantee of a step-up to G80.

I realize I'm kind of pissing in the punch here which is not my intent, but I guess it comes from a track record of me making mistakes with money and growing up under a father who has pinched pennies all his life. Hell, I've pissed away money plenty of times, too. I bought two sportscars in a span of 2 years once. We all do it.

Have fun with your new setup. Hopefully eVGA will let you step-up when the G80 hits store shelves.

Hopefully I really will be able to step-up. I'm excited about the 3 games I will get and the fact that this card can clock much higher than my volcano temperature 7950 GX2. Anyway it will be good to be able to still get a pretty decent amount of cash for this GX2 on Ebay.

Did you get the 3 free games by just buying one card? What games did you get again?
