Hi, we installed a quadro fx 4000 dual monitor in a Sun blade w2100z with red hat enterprise linux ws 3.
the system is fully updated. We installed the nvidia driver version 8762 for x86_64 (the system has 2 AMD Opteron CPU's) when I access to the system via the console, all is fine, but when configured the xdmcp protocol to get into the system via a xdm remote session (we access using exceed 10.0.0.5) and after that we want to accedd via the console again, the system is "fool", that is, I can't login, after 10-20 secs the X server reinitialices and then I can access normally. The same occurrs if we are logged into the system via the console, first we must logout and when the X server and the nvidia driver appears, then we can access normally to the system and work fine. do you think is a nvidia driver problem, or X or exceed? can you help me? thanks in advance. The nvidia X server has no control over authentication or login restrictions. Does this problem persist if you switch to using the 'nv' X driver?

sorry Loni, that's true....
when I tried with another driver the problem continued. I discovered that when the remote client logouts, the local session didn't work anyway. When I ran a xterm, the only way that work was adding a display route in the command line, that's: in place xterm I wrote xterm -display `hostname`:0 and everything works. can you help me about this configuration problem? or direct me to any document that be useful for me. thanks Claudio |

What you're describing is expected behavior when you wish to establish a connection to a remote X server. Your method is likely the best way of doing this.
Thanks, Lonni |
