firefox uses cairo to render web pages on screen. Cairo can use glitz to accelerate using OpenGL or Xrender output or Xlib output or GDI to draw in M$ Windows. Maybe here is the reason why firefox crash or not.

Don't think so. I have composite disabled in xorg.conf and RederAccel enabled. I never get such crash in firefox like this one in this url at post #1.

You mis-read my post: Does this bug (read: firefox/X.org crash) triggered when both COMPOSITE -and- RenderAccel are enabled?

I've tried to reproduce this on several different GPUs, and have not had any success. Which window manager(s) are being used for those who are experiencing this problem?

Thanks,
Lonni

I use only KDE, don't know if FF crashes X under Gnome also.

With RenderAccel set to 0 crash doesn't occur anymore.

X.org goes down like clock work.
FC5 x86_64, 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5, 8762, both Composite and RenderAccel are enabled.
(Should I try the latest drivers? I didn't see anything about bug fixes)
