7800 GTX Performance Issue

I installed a 7800 GTX PCI Express x16 on FC4 using the 8774 driver and ran a viewer application of some geometry and got about 35 Hz frame rate, however on a windows computer with an ATI Radeon 9600 with the same application and same data I get a 90Hz frame rate. I know I am not comparing apples to apples but I would expect the 7800 GTX to be much better than the ATI Radeon 9600 regardless of Operating System.

Any ideas?

Which application are you running, and how are you measuring the performance?

I am running osgviewer from OpenSceneGraph with some terrain geometry. I am using the frame rate displayed in the application as the metric.

Are you using the same xorg.conf for both videocards?
Is this problem present in any other tools, such as SPEC Viewperf?
Can you point me to the terrain geometry you're using?

I will see what I can do to find a place for you to get the terrain geometry. the ATI Radeon 9600 is running on a windows computer so it is not using Xorg. I will try SPEC Viewperf also.

I don't think there's much to compare here if you're using a different vendor's videocard in a different OS. If you see performance differences when running the same OS, with the same display configuration, then there's something else to investigate.
