I recently upgraded to the new NVidia 4191 driver for RedHat 8 ... it installed fine and works fine too .. mostly
This error I'm not entirly sure is NVidias fault but tis easier to rule NVidia out and fix than anything else (usually) Ok .. the problem ... I view a wmv movie with Xine and whats displayed is the real size of the movie but it's just a grey box. Kill that - after which every movie format i try to play with any playback software does the same thing. If i reboot i can play realmedia movies fine ... soon as i play a wmv movie ... dead. 2nd problem ... trying to run Chromium the game does not work ... the exact error I don't have now but its something like failed to load GLX something. I had some security problem with my Mandrake 9 install which was easy to fix but this one isn't in the NVidia FAQ ... any ideas would be good ... i'll post more specific info next time i'm on my system ... cheers |

Chromium no go ...
Clever me forgot to add Load "glx" to X config file, that sorted all now works with Open GL YAY Video Issues ... ahh ... still unsure - tho it seems to be a corrupt video codec ... still can't work out why it takes an X server restart to fix tho ...I'm running daily builds of xine for redhat 8 using the latest win32 codecs package (0.52) so it may just be xine doing some wierd stuff ... tho xine ppl not helping much on resolving this from their end ... oh well, least i have OpenGL now :-) |
