Since today Nvidia offers beta drivers for Linux!! Check http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...etadriver.html
The latest driver version is 1.0-9625 which supports OpenGL 2.1, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap and more improvements. Have fun ![]() |

Doesn't work for me. When starting up X screen stays black. Attached the X log. I cannot swicth consoles anymore, but can use Magic SysRq. You can find nvidia bug-report of current stable drivers searching the forum.

Doesn't work here either... Starting X only gives me a black screen and a lockup (I can reboot the system with ALT+SysRq though) nvidia bug-report attached.
Maybe the just wanted to show us how hard it is to create a working set of drivers and how much time it takes? And this was supposed to make us stop bothering them about beta releases? ;-) P.S. How about creating a separated, sticky thread concerning beta releases and their features/bugs/solutions ? |

Well, it hangs here too, but with sysrq-r and sysrq-k I got back to a working console.
Xorg is stuck in D state. Lots of 'nv_i2c*' stuff is shown when sysrq-t I think the new i2c stuff in the nvidia driver is the culprit. Sadly removing load i2c from xorg.conf is not enough. |

Hmmmm... Just a thought... Maybe removing i2c/smbus stuff modules from kernel would disable that i2c support and help ? Gotta try this :-)

@sangu: does it work if you specify the AddARGBGLXVisuals X driver option? Please see the The X Composite Extension appendix in the README for details.
