Default Refresh rates for old CRT PAL TV???

I have judder/frame drops/jerkiness... when I try to watch DVDs or PVR recorded TV. I have a very old CRT PAL TV and a FX5200 nVidia personal cinema card that outputs via a connections box through the s-video. At the other end of the cable is scart and that goes into my TV. The scart socket expects composite input.

This is my xorg file. Is it possible that I have a refresh rate problem of some sort that is creating the jerky picture?
