Tried the latest beta of the driver, 9626. The psychedelic colours remain.

I have exactly same problem with 9626 beta drives. 8xxx family drivers works with a DVI connection without any problems. Beta drivers with a DVI connection give this 'psychodelic' colors but AIXGL still works...normal VGA connection with beta drivers works fine...
I have a GeForce3 Ti 200 running on gentoo and 2.6.17-8 kernel with gcc 4.1.1.

Default 9629 / some problems on Geforce 3 & Fedora 6

I tested the new 9629 driver. No luck. It is actually somewhat worse than the beta: the psychedelic colours are the same, but now anything that tries to use glx segfaults, including glxinfo and Nvidia's graphical configuration tool. Glx used to work in the beta.

I tried to check if the DVI problem is display-dependent, but it does not seem so. I connected a 1280x1024 Sony LCD display, and the colour are just as mangled as on the bigger EIZO I normally use.

I'm attaching the verbose bug report.

I've finally been able to reproduce this problem and confirmed that it is isolated to DFPs (not CRTs), and is specific to the NV20 GPU based cards. Bug 266952 has been opened.

Thanks,
Lonni

That's very good news. Thanks.

I wonder what is going on with glx. It works for me on Fedora 6 when using 8774 or the 9625 beta, but causes any gl/glx-using program to segfault on 2629 and the whole kernel to crashes when trying to use glx with the 8776 driver. I saw the 8776 packages on Livna; I don't even know if it is an officially released stable version.

I'm using 8774, but it seems to have a problem with transparency. E.g. rounded window corners in GNOME (Metacity) are draw as black sharp corners. 8776 does draw the transparent bits corrently (rounded corners), but as I said gl/glx causes the whole system to crash.

I am experiencing this same problem and was wondering about progress of this bug? Is there a bugzilla where I can see the status of bug #266952? Thank you.

This bug is currently being worked upon by development. I'm afraid that I don't have an ETA for resolution though.

Thanks,
Lonni

Hi,

I am experiencing colour problems with a 7600 Go driving an 1680x1050 LCD display on an Asus F3JV laptop. The distro is Kubuntu and is only running version 8776 of the Nvidia driver. Attached is a screenshot using a digital camera showing the affect. A standard screen capture when viewed on another computer doesn't show the problem. I can make the problem go away by restarting X using ctrl-alt-backspace.

Do you think this is related to this thread?

Thanks,

Scott.

If this problem persists in 1.0-9742, please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

Unfortunately, the 9742 driver doesn't support the GF3 Ti 200 anymore

I'm still having the same problem...

hueb_s,
I was referring to stodas who is using a GPU supported in 1.0-9742.

However, you've not posted a bug report against any driver version either.
