9625 beta / some problems on Geforce 3 & Fedora 6

Hi,

I wasn't able to find the 1.0-9742 driver but have installed 1.0-9631 which has the same problem. I have attached a log file generated when the problem still exists and then one after I restart X and the problem no longer exists.

I don't see any differences between the good & bad bug reports. How often does this problem reproduce? Does this reproduce without vmware?

I disabled vmware and the problem still occurs on 1.0-9631. It reproduces every time the computer boots.

I will try using 1.0-9742 now.

1.0-9742 won't install. The installer log file is attached.

One more thing is not working properly. I can't drop into a console using ctrl-alt-F1. It just gives me a blank screen.

I have an ASUS A6QKM laptop with the 7200Go and a 1280x800 LCD. It doesn't have the colour problem but does not allow me to drop into a console either.

Edit: Sorry the file name indicates 9631 but should read 9742.

The 1.0-9742 install failure could be due to using the dash shell instead of bash. Try fixing the symlink from /bin/sh to point to /bin/bash.

The change from dash to bash worked

Unfortunately the same problem with the same fix occurs in the 9742 driver.

I have attached an BenQ FP202W monitor as the second display. The laptops screen still shows the colour problem but the BenQ does not. Also the colours are correct if I switch to a console using ctrl-alt-F1 and then back again. The Beta driver allows the console to be shown.

I was having the same problem with my Geforce3 Ti200 and 9631 driver. I switched my card to Geforce FX 5500 and the problem is that

(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "1440x900+0+0";

which is necessary for my Hanns-G JW199D...

I want to say that I have the same problem on two different machines running the 64 bits version of Ubuntu Edgy 6.10. The problem arises both with the nv driver and the nvidia driver so I thought it should be related to something else (hopefully not a hardware bug). Anyway, there is a post on the ubuntu forums too:

Switch to console mode and back to graphic mode solves the problem until you reboot the machine. This is still very annoying. So please, if you find a solution let us know.

Bug 266952 was resolved in 1.0-9631.
