Default GeForce Go 6150 - fixed refresh rate

Hello,
I am using 1.0.9625 beta drivers and can't change the refresh rate in Xorg(tried even setting Modeline in xorg.conf). I am always getting 1440x900@50Hz instead of 1440x900@60Hz. With 1.0.8774 it was 1440x900@60Hz, but I hardly managed to read that in display settings so I must use 1.0.9625. Ohh and on windows 1440x900@60Hz works just fine.

This is potentially your problem:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No modes were requested; the default mode "nvidia-auto-select"
(WW) NVIDIA(0): will be used as the requested mode.

If you don't request any modes, you're telling the driver to decide on what is best. Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 5

and then generate and post a new bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni

I have posted a bug-report with all modes in xorg.conf commented out, but nevermind this. After running with logverbose 5 I see that the real vertical refresh seems to be set to 60 Hz:

from Xorg.log:
(II) NVIDIA(0): "nvidia-auto-select" : 1440 x 900 @ 60.0 Hz (from: EDID)
nvidia-settings:
Attribute 'RefreshRate' (screen: phoebe:0.0; display: DFP-0): 6000.

Only kde shows it as 50Hz.

I have also found a topic with the same problem http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=77777, so maybe the beta drivers aren't passing the (real) refresh rate to X.org?(I don't know how it works, but it's ok on 1.0.8774).

That thread you've referenced isn't the same issue as what you're reporting here.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 5

and then generate and post a new bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni

According to the EDID in your DFP, it has a fixed refresh rate of 60Hz for all native modes. Are you experiencing a problem beyond KDE misreporting the refresh rate?

What you're reporting here sounds like a KDE bug.

Thanks,
-Lonni

I don't know where/how can i check that...
nvidia-settings shows 60.00, Xorg.log shows it's fixed at 60. The only reason I think it's a nvidia bug is that kde shows 60 with 1.0.8774.

Or KDE is using a mechanism for determining the refresh rate which changed with the newer driver. I'd suggest talking to the KDE developers about this problem, as there's nothing here right now which suggests a driver bug.

Thanks,
Lonni

Resurrecting this one as I found out that kde is using xrandr.
Attaching two xrandr outputs, before and after changing refresh rate from auto to 60 with nvidia-settings.

Btw. I am using 9746 now.

@Peper: please see the documentation for the DynamicTwinView X configuration file option (http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-d.html and http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...hapter-04.html (towards the bottom of the page)).

This is slightly unrelated , i have an x86_64 HP notebook with the nvidia GeForceGo 6150 graphics card ,I am trying to run Suse-10.2 for x86_64 . the supported cards for the latest version of the driver(1.09746) do not seem to have this card listed (http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_18897.html ) , can somebody help me with which version of the driver I should use.
