Default Better alternative to nero 6?

I just noticed that you can't obtain nero 6 anywhere anymore. Nero 7 is full of so much cruft that no sane person should install it on any computer. I don't suppose anybody knows of any burning software that has all of the features of nero 6 without all of the bloat?

Ezcd and roxio, last I looked, had that "lets be friendly to the user and keep the feature set minimal" feel so I haven't cared to try them in a long time, and don't really want to either.

I am looking for something that has a complete feature set, e.g. burning all known image file types, all known burning methods (dao, tao, overburn, burnproof, etc) DVD movie support, VCD, SVCD, UDF, ISO9660, etc, the works.

Forget all features related to "media finding" and all of that garbage, this is the reason I am ditching nero in the first place. I am hoping for something that supports vista as well.

Nero 6.6.1.4

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

I don't like all the bloat of Nero 7 either, so I still use the version above.

Well, you can disable most of the bloatware in Nero7. But I still prefer Nero6 because the installer is so light weight, and I don't have to uncheck a bunch of options.

I will consider Nero7 when I need hd dvd or blu ray support, which probably won't be until next year.

Nero 6 is just a bit dated is all. I just found that a nero 7 lite exists, not sure if its worth getting.

I remember when 7 first came out, I got a demo and it was the most bug-riddled POS ever. I couldn't burn an audio CD to save my life, except for one time out of 15 tries.

And the disc skipped throughout playback.

Nero 7 was complete crap. I have no idea if it's any better at 7.5 now, but I'm not going to waste any time trying. Nero 6.6 Ultra has been and will continue to be the only thing I use for burning until I absolutely have to upgrade.

I have 7.5 and only installed the audio editor and burning ROM and have had no problems to speak of. I don't do any heavy burning, but the audio CDs and data DVDs I've burned have worked fine.

Check out Nero Lite and Micro. Its custom made, optimized Nero packages, that doesn't include any bloat. The file sizes are 37mb for Lite and 16mb for Micro. Lite has many options you can opt to install or not. Micro only supports CD/DVD burning. I am using Micro for basic CD/DVD burning, its Nero 7 Burning ROM without any bloat, very recommended.
You can use your existing Nero key with it or evaluate for 30 days i believe.

Nero 7

Works wonders for me, never crashed, works as advertised and then some.

7.5 pwns all others. No competition.

I'm using Nero 6.6 or something like that. It works fine for me so I'm sticking with it. Too bad it doesn't work with Vista though...(or at least I couldn't get it to work)
