FSWC doesnt have support for DX10 as yet due to the shader code being quite a bit diffrent from that of DX9 but i read its being worked on so fingers crossed

Hey Guys

Got my QEM EC-135 skin in the pipe & its coming along quite nicely



Should be done for the weekend i hope

Back to beating the FSX ****ty performance dead horse ive Just been taking a trip around hobart in AUBlue is see both 3.1GHZ C2D cores at 100% & my GPU utilization is only sitting at 30% (i can see these number on my G15's LCD thanks to everest's hardware monitor LCD output) after a good 5 mins flight i never saw it top 70% even when my frame rate was in the 60's & thats under DX10 with most GFX at MAX 1680x1050 & with me forcing CFAA(x24 AA) & 16AF....just wft did Aces Dev FSX on GFX card wise a voodoo 1! with DX10 software emu!

I was finally able to DL and install the HK mod last night. I went for the non-SDK mode and it does look nice, but my FPS took quite a hit. I'm gonna have another go in the SDK mode tonight. My CPU is really struggling ATM, but I'm gonna have to find a way to keep the FPS up without loosing too much eye candy because a new quad is out of the question ATM. Any suggestions would be appreciated .

Heli's looking good, Giz. What do you use to make the textures?

EDIT: Also, can FEX be used in conjunction with FSWC in DX9? Is FEX DX10 compatible?

Many thx for the kind words

As for your ? on repainting well....you'll need a good pixel editing progy (i use Photoshop) a .dds plugin and ideally the paint kit for the model you want to skin (most come as layed Psd files) ive skinned before without a paint kit but its much easier if you have a good paint kit thats labled well,also some good ref images can be very helpful i got the one for this QEM theme from Jetphotos.net

A side from that some skill with PS and a bucket or two of patience helps

Almost done on this one just got to tweak a few area's where ive been fighting some UV distortions & make the spec maps and fesnel map

Well, keep in mind a quad won't affect your fps, and only helps with blurries and stutters. The actual clock speed of core 0 is the only thing that determines your frame rate, so at 3.6Ghz you're doing pretty good. You've noticed the other cores only have a partial load and thats because they're really only used for loading terrain textures.

Personally I keep AI turned off with the exception of 10% vehicle traffic, which can make a big difference.

Hey Revs try running with 0% ships and liesure boat traffic. To enable the custom AI Ships just set General Aviation traffic to 10%+. When I do just that I get all the custom ships, and I run at 30fps. If I add 50% ships and liesure boat traffic, I'm down in the low 20's, and it doesn't even add more custom boats, just generic stuff, most of which are parked. So it seems a waste, which is why I've found 10% vehicle traffic with 10% GA traffic and the rest on 0% is the best way to enliven the city and ocean while being extremely efficient.

Nice one! This is the sort of thing I need to know. I'll have a play and see how it goes .
