Hey thanks for the info. I've never watched AI before, sounds like fun with YMML. I might just get it as it sounds like YMML might be a one-off rarity based on what John is saying. Seems they are not getting the sales needed to justify the development time. I'm getting a nehalem later this year so it should work good on that anyway.

Take a look at mango's work on the Redcliff freeware airport. This is just outside the airport.

I'll get some pics, but the new Launceston freeware is amanzing, by far the best freeware I've ever seen. Bettter than the Fokker DrI. The sizeable photo texture looks to be 60cm, even out to the edges of the coverage area. Given this great freeware release I decided to get YMML, and it's also impressive. Here's FSX at 15cm... The top left area is tack sharp. Can't wait to put a few hours into shooting this scenery.

Yes, tis good - grabbed YMLT this morning, but ended up with a right mess as I didn't remove the previous version I ended up reinstalling my entire orbx collection, adding the new OZx freeware, which doesn't clash with the improved versions...so all is well again.

I find the new version a little frame rate heavy, but there is a lot of detail there - like you it's one of my favourite areas, in fact I must have only covered around 2% of the entire AU Green and Gold areas, as I keep going back to the same places...I must get out more

So, how are you finding performance with YMML?

That work of Mango's is outstanding, very acurate.

Evening at YMLT Launceston V2.

slaWter - have you checked the FSX cfg to see if the line in the [Graphics] section D3D10= does have a 1 and not 0?

So far its ok, about 18-25 with dense auogen, but I have yet to test it with AI, so I'm a bit worried. lol Surprisingly I can get away with 8xS supersampling though. I might see if I can play with the autogen tweak to knock out some of the surrounding houses, while keeping lots of trees onsite, that way I can get right into the thick of YMML with my little R22 and experience he best of what it has to offer. I figure if I'm right in it with the R22 I won't notice the lack of houses in the distance.

Wow guys, Tim said REX will be over 10.8GB! I assume that's disk space and not the download.

Take a look at these Black Shark images by Mr Palmason. Truly amazing. Seems Alphasim has taken it up a notch, though I wish their prices would come down a notch. lol More images a the link...

great shots here everyone. all i do is work 16 hours a day and go to airshows in between. only a few more weeks and back to normal human hours.....i still get some fsx in but only for bits at a time..........too tired. i still follow this thread everyday......it's excellent how everyone here is so knowlegable and informative about fsx and up coming products.

by the time i start taking advantage of my new video card another one will be out.........lol

i have vista 64ultimate on and with my new vid card i'm surprised how everything so far is running really well. i got a replacement disc and installed vista with sp1 on it already. before i had nothing but problems with my original disk. maybe the sp1 on the disk helped with a fresh install with all the hotfixes already on the disk.

so far so good.....fsx runs good the times ive played this last month.

only downside to vista for some reason is i could not for the life of me get my xfi working. it worked great with xp but no luck with vista. i would lose sound half the time and freezes and stutters. i bought a Asus xonar and popped it in and everything so far is excellent. no issues.

have a good day all.

Yeah its a cool thread, kind of a one stop FSX shop. I know I always try to put the highlights in here for others not looking at the same forums as me.

Speaking of such, A2A released the FSX patch for their P-47, and released the "solo" version which can be had for $18. Only down side is you don't get bump maps, but the plus side is you get awesome frames with this line of aircraft. I know the A2A Spitfire will get 35fps compared to 28fps with the RealAir spit in the same scene.

That Black Shark looks absolutely stunning, esp. with Mr Palmason artistic capabilities. For me, with current exchange rates, would cost 23 GBP, which is pretty good value. Things are working in our favour at the moment, for a change.

Not that I can afford anything else at the moment.

The FEX SHD install weighs in at around 9.6GB, but the download size is 950mb - so that gives you some idea of the size of what the REX download is likely to be.
