WOW I didn't expect them that quickly Steve - cheers, grabbing them now

In the sprit of sharing, here is the XML file for a FEX SHD cloud set that I think works very well.

Download the file and place it in your 'themes/cloud themes' folder within your main FEX directory.

It seems REX is in full and proper BETA now, with some shots appearing at FSW from Mango and Mr Palmason - they are not as mind blowing as some commentators would have you believe, but it takes time to get to grips with new software, and get the best out of it, so I'm sure we will see some truly great stuff...lets hope it does live up to it's year of high profile exposure anyway.

JT8D-9A actually, they are some pretty mind blowing shots above...

Hey guys

Killer shots JT8D-9A just like mark you make my little mods look so much nicer than i can & thx for the heads up on the ship i'll check here out always nice to get those little addons that add to the emersion

thx for the cloud theme mark i think im gonna have to put SHD Fex back in for a while till REX pops,As for the speed of getting these done well you know ive been threating to do some DX9 maps for a while so i thought id get to it while i had a few hours free today

atm there moving a little fast but FSWC+ will have normals scroll speed controls among other things i requested so no more super speedy waves once thats ready

im gonna try and grab some HD videos of these mods soon as i think there at the stage where there good enought for the masses and not just my little beta slave team as you guy have seen it looks a lot wet'er in motion and ive had a few mails asking for a HD video i think i'll have a crack a one

Cheers
Steve

Doesn't quite do them justice - I need to fiddle FSWC to work better with them - but a single shot, to show how nice they work with a little tropical water.

I'll try you FSWC setup - atm the centre of the glare is dimmer than the edges when looking into the sun, so i need to balance that.

Love the subtle swell pattern these give.

Great work thank you!...

Hey mark

Looking good, seems that ATI must handle the sun spec a little diffrently than NV as the above FSWC setting managed to blance the glare for me,i'll have a play when i get chance & see if i can bring the glare down in the texture map but as the waves are packed so close together as they get mipmaped they tend to blend together and create a higher glare FSWC+ is going to bring speed and scaling to water normals so once thats out i can have a look at making some 1024x sets that dont get scaled so high so we can have detail without massive 4096x4096 texture sets!

Time for coffee

Hey guys

Glad to hear ppl like the normals

Had a request for a a larger tweaked swell and as i just found a progy that lets me blend normals it was pretty easy

if you guys also want to try it just download this file

OceanHeight20FieldLayer1.dds

and make another 2 copies of it which you will need renamed to

OceanHeight20FieldLayer.dds & OceanHeight20FieldLayer2.dds

you can rename either it doesnt matter which as long as you have

OceanHeight20FieldLayer.dds
OceanHeight20FieldLayer1.dds
OceanHeight20FieldLayer2.dds

then placed all 3 in the fsx\texture folder

heres what the tweaked set looks like under dx9

Hey guys

Only me again

Just uploaded a modded set of DX10 normal maps as after testing out a few things i found i could halve the file size of the 4096x4096 textures with no loss of ingame quality

so heres a new DOWNLOAD link for the reduced Vram set

Wow that last shots looks incredible. Are you using the same FSWC tweaks you showed on the previous page?

Hey silly

Pretty much yep thats with the modded swell set DX9

ive tweaked the FSWC profile a little more so here it is as it was in the above and the following shots

http://rapidshare.com/files/155935453/Gizmos_SHD.pfl

download and drop it in your FSWC\Profiles folder

Dont forget im using a custom no burnt in/no wave textures on my water colour tones set for my water,i'll be releasing it soon minus the coral sets(still working on those as im finding it hard to source textures for coral that FS doesnt blur to **** once in sim i might have to hand make some in photoshop with various filters)

Cant wait for FSWC+ once thats out you'll beable to slow the wave speed of these normals down & i can say goodbye to ACES silly silver moon lighting in DX10 on my water whoot
