Thanks yet again for these Steve...'with these normals you are spoiling us'

I won't try and pretend the above shots were taken at a silky smooth frame rate - this is around YMML on the edge of Melbourne, which is a tough area, but I was still getting a pretty stable 20fps once away from the airport, which is acceptable for me.

In these sort of areas, running an 'unlimited' frame rate proves to be the best option.

Any of you guy's looking forward to "Storm of War: Battle of Britain" by Oleg Maddox?

I dig FSX, but I can only fly around so much without becoming bored. I always have to create a scenario to hold my interest.

BOB should have some incredible visuals, and also the added bonus of having things to do with your airframe.

In IL2 I had some old period news radio tracks that played in the background. A nice mix of vintage war news and old tunes. It added nicely to the immersion factor.

We used to do online scenarios where each side had one or two bombers and a compliment of fighters. Both sides would start on their respective field and would scramble towards their targets.

The strategy itself was fun, trying to decide who to leave defending your rear echellon, who will escort the heavies, and who to task offensively against the other teams bombers. Man, that was a blast. It would be cool to get a large scale mission going with a bunch of nvidiots.

The smell of 150 octane, the sound of your Merlin. The feeling of excitement when you hear the scramble and slide your canopy shut. The quickening of your pulse when you see the enemy's bombers, the frantic adrenaline of hearing a fellow nvidiot calling a bandit on his six as you break to save his ass. I think I'm giving myself a woody.

I thought storm of war was only going to be on Xbox or something. Somebody posted a video a while ago and I was amazed, then I found out it was not for PC. If its for PC then I'll probably be picking it up.

well the new F16 is a fun jet to fly. i've only messed around with it today. looks excellent......great detail and color. i think the sound is great compared to most other jets for fsx......and also compared to the default F18 (which i think is an actually pretty decent overall jet coming from microsoft.)

one thing i noticed is there are no contrails when flying. the vapour over the wings is there but any tight turns or anyting there is no contrails. i tried several different jets tonight and no contrails........drats......i need that when performing my acrobatic manouvers

and no smoke system for the thunderbird f16 either so i just copied and pasted the default f18 smoke system into the f16config file and now have smoke.

well i'm off to get farcry tomorrow and see what that's all about.

Some shot of various recent flights...all of these are over GenX scenery.

F16 is looking great - jets aren't my thing, but I love the look of this aircraft.

Great shots as always Mark

Dam GenX looks somuch better with some autogen,i hope they plump for doing UTX/Orbx nightlighting when they get around to releasing there autogen packages,i just hope that they do it like orbx as the hit from UTX's night lighting is crazy any of the AU packages show Zero hit with night lighting yet as soon as i turn it on in Nightlighting in UTX my FPS plumt!

Ive been playing dead space of late and im waitting on FO3 so havent had much flight time in FSX,i did slip in a Ozx carenado C152 repaint a few days back though

BTW is that yellow repaint on the Carenado C152 or the justflight 152?

Hi Steve, the yellow 152 is the Just Flight version and like this paint, though I cannot remember where on earth I got it from, prolly Avsim. The Carenado version of the 152 is nicer, esp. the VC and I will grab your paint for sure...looks great!...

Odd about the UT lighting, as I can honestly say I have noticed no drop in performance when using it with GenX, or over UTE terrain - I will do a test later to see what impact it has, as obviously there must be some, but it seems to make no difference to my usual GenX locked 28fps. It does look far better than the burned-in lighting GenX provides, but it is not up to FTX standard...Orbx has really excelled in this area, like most others.

Enjoy your games I'm still -slowly- working through Warhead, and I've been thinking about getting FC2 - though I may wait and see what GTA4 turns out like on PC. I play games far less now and often end up not finishing them, unless they're really good, so I need to be picky.

Hey mark

Yep i thought it was the JF 152 due to the way the reg txt doesnt have the size limitations of the UV mapping like it does on the carenado 152 which is something ive been fighting with an a few repaints

Same for me on a lot of games FSX is the main filler for me between major titles but i got a few im looking forward to playing and finishing (tomb raider underworld & FO3 are top of my list) with the cost of things up somuch these days i cant afford to be buying things im not going to play of in the case of FSX planes im not going to fly much, which is why i didnt get the F16 or the bush hawk,i think i'll get the catalina if/when that ever comes out as i just love that plane heres hopping they dont make it to complex and to heavy on the FPS!

A great repaint for the Carenado C-152 from Steve / gizmo / omzig - thanks a lot for this

I will certainly look at the Catalina too - I used to love this ac when I was little, something about the shape interested me, though now I find it rather ugly.

Hey Mark

Sweet shots again! you have a very uncanny knack of finding areas that contrast very very well with what ever repaint you flying! do you spend ages searching out these places or just grab them on the fly hehe

Feelin a lot better now but still havent shiffed my flu completely i thought i was just "man flu" to start with so i ignored it and just carried on with things but that was a bad mistake because it just got worse...but a weekend in bed with night nurse seems to have broken it (i just reread that and it sounds rather risky )

btw just updated this repaint at Ozx (DL LINK as i found some spec mapping irregularities i wasnt happy with, dam i must be feeling better if in back in photoshop messing with repaints

I think the shots are more luck than judgement, though I knew the yellow would look great with a nice blue sea and sky - I will replace this paint with the updated version...I don't want any nasty mapping irregularities, whatever they may be

Glad the 'non man' i.e. 'real' flu is getting better...keep up the paint jobs.

It feels like Fallout3 in here - desolate and empty. Where is everyone?

I've noticed this thread hasn't been as busy as it usually is and no wonder, I haven't touch FS since Fallout 3 came out!
