Yeah W7 rocks for FSX. I never used Vista, but W7 is way better than XP ever was, however the 185 driver induces incurable stutters on my system, so I actually change back to the previous driver for FSX use.

It will rock on your machine ...I only have an old AMD X2 cpu and a 9800gt 1gb and have no problems running 4096 textures at all. Its funny to think when FEX first introduced its 4096 clouds, just how many sceptics thought it was all BS and they would bring machines to a halt - but, no such problems for most people, unless they were running graphics cards with 256mb a vram and very weak CPUs.

Lance, PNW is looking very tasty...not sure if I will get it, at least not to start with. but if I find myself coming back to FSX a bit more then I certainly will. Look forward to seeing what it looks like in all its glory..

A few gliding shots.

AlphaSim's HU-16B Albatross, nice textures on it, the screens doesn't show the full beauty

Here's the P-38 thats comming up. The texturing here is done by an ex-Aces guy, and the lighting/shadows are baked into the texture, meaning it will look similar to this in game.

They look ok, though I'm not sure about the water in the first two shots, the colour doesn't seem to match the sky for some reason...maybe just the REX theme you've chosen.

If you want better, more volumetric, looking clouds, rather than the little cotton wool puffs, try setting your weather up through 'Customize' > 'Advance Weather' in FSX. Try using a deep layer of cumulus, as in the screenshot, with varying coverage levels.

You will find you get far better results that just using the sliders to set-up the weather.

Pushing the cumulus layer higher can produce some interesting effects, but it can also start to do odd things and look very messy.

Thank you for posting your weather settings! I tried them but but happens is REX will override my settings and change them after about 3min into flying. I'm trying to figure out how to stop that.

If you don't start REX, and just fire up FSX, you can create your own weather. I personally only use REX and/or FEX to replace textures and do not use REX's real world weather option. If I want real world weather I use Active Sky, as currently the REX engine is a bit pants - this will hopefully change when they get round to releasing v 2.0, which should be soon.

You only need to run REX if you wish to run real world weather or change texture sets.

I see, If I just start FSX like normal I will still get all the goodies (textures) from REX but I will be able to set my own weather conditions?...
