I just recently re-installed FSX Deluxe plus the expansion, using my X52 and rudder pedals.

Its nice to be flying again.

I am just wondering what peoples favorite free flight trip is, to and from?

@musman
Are you also using UTX-USA?
I think something's wrong with your MegaSceneryX Southern California. Why doesn't it look like mine?!? It's over the Palm Springs area, right?

@musman I also don't have UTX
Funny thing: over Palm Springs area the shadows on the mountains match to aprox.11 a.m. in the sommer, but over L.A. area they match to aprox.17-18 p.m.
Some shadows look blue under certain light angles, textures ar not hi-res, they look good only from the distance, so fly high.

Here near L.A.:

And here near Palm Springs:

@slaWter It's the full version, but as I said, you must fly high or zoom out, the photoscenery is not hi-res and of course you must have the right time of day to match with the shadow in the scenery. Well you can't have it all, at least it runs good, even on my last system configuration was OK.

@sillyeagle Hey Sillye., how was your ride?

Pretty sweet in fact! Got to do several 3G manouvers, a couple rolls, and a barell roll. He would have done a loop too, but after all the other stuff I had to call off the loop, else I might have gotten sick in his plane! Never had a problem on roller coasters, etc. The loop would have been something else, but even without I got to experience something I thought I would only dream of.

Surprisingly the plane didn't have the acceleration power I thought it would have. He took off with 50" and the acceleration force was probably equivalent to what you feel when a passenger jet takes off. Not sure what RPM he used though. Once airborne we were cruising at 40" the whole time, and he didn't change the power setting during the manouvers, just nosed down to get the needed speed, and when nosing back up to enter the rolls is when we were pulling the G's.

When pulling out of the dives it seemed like he was pulling up very gently, as least compared to my sim flying, but there was a significant G load, much more than I would have expected. I guess I have underestimated the amount of G's I'm always pulling in the sim. He said 3G's is what we hit, but it seemed like more. I bet 5-6 G's would have put me out without some practice.

I even had to strap on a parachute and get lessons on how to bail, which added to the whole experience. After we landed I got to get a "behind the ropes" look at the F-22's, which was pretty cool. I must say the F-22 is the loudest thing I've ever heard, at least when it's burnders are pointed right at you. Insane really, and that machine is by far the most impressive piece of tech I've ever seen. Watching it flip around in the sky, fall backward and recover, was incredible. Almost like watching a machine with gavity propulsion. lol
