Anyone here use X-Plane? I'm about to re-install it any give it another shot...again. Just got another HDD so I have the room for it now (it's about 81Gb on the drive with all the scenery discs) How do you think it measures up against FSX? Personally I find X-Plane frustrating,very buggy and hard to use, but I'm going to give it another try.

Bubee, which area is featured in shots number 3 and 4? And which season are you using? Those two are really impressive.

Only down side I've seen is the lack of supersample AA, which I do miss quite a bit.
I've done some more testing, and the flashing lines on taxiways are still there, which is annoying. However, it's the actual performance that gets really confusing.

I get far higher FPS numbers in DX9 than in DX10, even with clear weather (with other settings, it's not a fair comparison as, for instance, rain is much denser under DX10). At the same time, the game does feel smoother under DX10 (fewer microstutters and FPS spikes) with BP=0.

Bear in mind, however, that (1) I only fly using the virtual c0ckpit view, and I've not compared external views too extensively, and (2) I'm currently using a 9600GT, which may distort DX10 results a bit.

That's the FTX US 1S2 Darrington Muni Airport Scenery in October. Also beautiful is the FTX US 7S3 Stark's Twin Oaks Airpark (screenshot 2).

Thanks Tym, I'll try Umpqua (58OR)

Here some more screens:

...and how about some godrays?

Wow great shots NuBee,Show just how much Aces dropped the ball when they decided not to add Crepuscular rays to FSX and decide to go with those nasty blocky ass VC shadows instead.....Anyhows seems that Crepuscular rays can be added as a post process effect and that a few games have added them as hacks via a 3d hooking program much like ENB

Heres a vid from morrowind

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrS1u...eature=related

heck they even have cloud shadows!

http://www.youtube.com/user/vtastek#p/a/u/0/fi3iZplFOTs

And one from oblivion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty_lc0y93ew

So once im done with the beaver im going to start reading up on Coding shaders,ive never been into programing at all being more into texturing and stuff but im open to learning new things and i think adding/modding shaders is the next thing that will add to FSX's IQ its only my own time im wasting after all

BTW taking about time wasting i was looking over the FSX SDK today and found some very cool camera options that Aces didnt turn on.....There mometum effects and seem tobe a basic version of what new EZdok addon is doing (that addon my even be tapping into and expanding on whats already there)

You can mess with the values but a few quick ones i pluged in for takeoff/landing jolting that ive been plaing with are as follows

In Your FSX.cfg file add the following body of txt

[dynamicheadmovement]
LonAccelOnHeadLon=-0.035
LonAccelOnHeadPitch=-0.035
RollAccelOnHeadLat=-0.5000
YawAccelOnHeadLat=-0.5000
RollAccelOnHeadRoll=0.5000
MaxHeadAngle=35.000000
MaxHeadOffset=2.00000
HeadMoveTimeConstant=1.500000

& save it

In your Cameras.CFG (found in the same dir as fsx.cfg) add the following line to the
[CameraDefinition.002] entry

AllowPbhAdjust = TRUE

& save,fire up fsx and do a few touch and goes,then loss your lunch hehe

if you dont like what it adds you can remove it by just deleting the entrys

Im going to see if it can be added to other camera postions via the aircraft.cfg files and have a play with the values

Laters

These mountains make for some nice dramatic effects with bad weather. Sorry if these shots are a bit dark, it was pretty cloudy and rainy that day, and I suck at editing...
