Do you have Real Environment Extreme? I would conceder getting it. Have been using it for a year now, it really improves the overall experience of FSX.

Also Microsoft's Flight Simulator X Acceleration Expansion Pack was worth the $$ for me.

Don't use much else except some free scenery from ORBX. Would love to buy some but they are so expensive.

I'm also just reinstalling FSX/Acceleration pack. I've already got REX. What's better FTX or is there better?

Could someone also suggest a list of some good must have planes and current tweaks useful pleeeeease?

Hey guys

Well where to start! im sure you know sorting out FSX's addons isnt stright forward due to the amount of stuff out there & the ways the sim can be used im afraid theres no quickfix to tweaking it either.....

As im really only into low and slow flying i can only recommend what i use

for env stuff i use FEX & my own custom stuff but if you have REX and arent into tweaking your own env stuff id say stick with REX

scenery addons id recommend are Orbx's AU & PNW packages, outside those area's you could go for GEX + UTX

aircraft: again depends on what you like to fly stuff im using atm

OZx goose HD expansion for the default grumman goose

A2A piper cub

Piglets Freeware PC-6

there are 1000's of airdraft addons some are amazing some are real dogs some freeware is payware quality and some payware i would'nt use if it was freeware,id say if your thinking of going for any payware addons have a good read of some forum posts about there and avoid the major review sites as a lot of the time they dont tell the full story,im not up on the newest aircraft addons as ive just been rig-less for about 8 months but if i do get any new stuff id recommend i'll post back

tweaks: if you have an i5/i7 system you can pretty much install patch to sp2/accel and fly but if your not happy with that or want to get some smoother preformance be prepared for some heavey reading

nick n's setup guide

http://www.simforums.com/forums/sett...opic29041.html

Lastest undocumented tweaks

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/281538-...0-conclusions/

shader model 3.0 mod, links and info

http://forums1.avsim.net/topic/28370...0-mod-for-fsx/

External FPS limiter (helps remove the stutter/bounce that running unlimited can cause without the hit the built in limiter give)

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/245251-...fsx-optimizer/

One thing i'll say about FSX and that is you should be looking for smoothness not super high FPS dont expect to push all the sliders to the right tick all the boxes and endup with fps in the 100's even on super OC i7's with 480's fsx can crawl if not setup properly

i'll try and help you guys tweak where i can but ive never seen FSX run the same even on identical systems it really is one strange sim......

hope that helps some

Testing REX-Overdrive. I'm was allways amazed by REX, every time I fired up FSX, but with 7GB Overdrive it's even better.

Steve, I know you'll smile seeing the Kamov.

I never did get REX,did the overdrive package fix the transparent cloud problem a few of you guy here had? and does it have any modding options like FEX yet? as you guy know im to much of a tweaker to just use what i get given

Wow - Nubee - Those shots are amazing. I LOVE the American one as I am more into Civil aircraft and flight than military.

Oh, by the way, the cloud transparence is now, with REX and with REX-Overdrive, not a dramatic problem anymore.

Hey guys, nice to see FSX still getting attention around here. Impressive shots nubee, as always!

So.... I might be interested in rekindling my relationship with FSX since I've not touched it in a long time, and I'd like to get a PNW airport to fly from since I don't actually have any for that region. Is there a specific Orbx airport that stands out as the creme of the crop?

I mainly use my airports as aerobatic playgrounds, so the beauty of the surrounding photoscenery and autogen is more important to me than the airport its self. Generally I like open fields where I can buzz down below tree top level, and hills/mountains to give vertical reference. Any suggestions for me?

Have fun everybody!

Oh God, there are so many, especially the new ones related to PNW, like Israel's Farm or Concrete Municipal. If you have Walk'nFollow or BOB (Orbx) just walk around, you'll be amazed by the details
