The application data folder in Vista is under X:\Users\USERNAME\Application Data if I recall correctly. Make sure you can see hidden files and folders. Additionally, there are subfolders inside APPDATA called local, roaming, etc. so you may have to sift through those as well.

Oh ya, totally forgot about the local folder lol. It's been a few months since I last used vista.

users\local\name\app data

I "think" that's the spot to start looking.

NOPE - it's: users\"your name"\app data\roaming\Microsoft\FSX

BTW, I use the following setting, been working great so far -

2048x1536
Supersampling AA x16Q
AF x16

[bufferpools]
poolsize=10000000

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=25

You can target and drop the bombs, with an accurate and corresponding explosion sound effect, though unfortunatly you will not be able to "see" the explosion, or so they have said...

I found a couple blog posts from the FSX developers which are quite interesting. The first one is from a guy working on the Reno Racing expansion pack, with the new Mustang. He talks about his recent mustang flight, and some details of the new engine modeling system that comes in the Xpack.

http://blogs.technet.com/p-12c_pilot/default.aspx

This one talks about the art of FS performance tuning.

possible solution for activation issues. i dont know if anybody knows this yet, i havent seen it yet. microsoft has posted solution, run youre registry editor Expand the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTRO L\CLASS\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. After you find the folder, double-click Upperfilters on the right side.
4. Change the value from 0 to PartMgr, and then click OK.
5. Close Registry Editor, and then try to use the activation wizard.

i tried 100 different activation solutions and the first time i did this it worked, much happier know

I'm planning on upgrading my pc, i would like to know if this config would run FSX on max settings (or nearly max):

C2D E6600
ASUS P5K Deluxe (it suppors 1066MHz memory and will the new Penryn CPUs)
2x1GB A-DATA Vitesta ExtremeEdition DDR2 1066MHz
ASUS 8800GTX

Nothing can run the game at max settings, but you can still make it look really good on any fast system.

With that system and SP1 you can run every at max including autogen if you turn off light bloom, turn traffic off, and set water to low 2.x.

FSX is CPU bound, so the faster the CPU you get, the faster FSX goes.
