Well Alphasim has the most military jets, lots of different types, though they are not as high quality as add ons from other developers. The external models are nice, but the virtual ****pits are very basic and not what I would call quality. I won't be buying any more Alphasim products as I feel the price they charge is way to much for what you get.

IRIS Simulations also makes some military stuff but I would aviod them. I bought their F-15 and felt it was hardly better than freeware.

If you want a really nice military jet wait for the Aerosoft F-16 or A-10, which should be out in a month or two, or if you want the best of the best wait for the Virtual Reality Simulations F/A-18, which should be out by the end of the summer.

Here is a list of most all of the add on developers, as well as blogs to the developers of FSX, and other resources.

My absolute favorite developers is RealAir. Rob Young of RealAir is known to be the best flight model programming on the planet. The RealAir SF260 and Spitfire are the two best planes I own, they are incredibly fun to fly with amazing flight models and sound sets.

If you have questions on other developers or about devs who make stuff other than military jets let me know.

Most aircraft previousto FSX were developed using GMAX, though somebody from Aerosoft said 3D Studio Max is the only way to go these days. I don't know anything about it though, or if there are any user freindly design programs out there. Might want to ask about that in the aircraft design forum at Avsim.com.

I've got the game but don't play it much. The add on looks cool though.

I only play the original. I don't have the Flaming cliffs add-on because I don't want to buy anything that uses Starforce.

Wow the Tiger Moth looks pretty sweet, as does the photo scenery.

It really is great scenery and it covers all of England and Wales, which takes about 60gb of disk space. Well worth it though for thousands of square miles of scenery - it also comes with 5m terrain mesh, so every bump is there.

There are two companys in the uk selling similar products - Horizon Simulations and Just Flight. The Horizon version is by far the better of the two, much sharper and better in colour terms - by comparision Just Flights is very green and murky.

The Tiger Moth is a 'Just Flight' addon is is quite nice, if a little heavy on the frame rate and lacking some of the more advance FSX features.

A couple more - if you didn't know you'd think it was real...and better still even on my modest set-up it runs at a constant locked 30fps!..

This is my modified Shockwave P-51D, which is one of my top three favorites to fly. Its combined with a freeware texture and the Merlin engine soundset from the Plane Design Spitfire, which is simply a bad ass sound set.

I've got a few tweaks done to it too. For one I made some adjustments in the Piston_Engine section of the cfg to boost it to around 2200 horsepower, and I edited the texture in order to have black colored exhaust stacks rather than the rust color it comes with.

I was flying around with my daughter this evening, and when I came back from putting her to bed, our flight was still cruising along. I think it took about 2 hours to get from Brookings Oregon to Just northeast of Seattle. It was a beautiful view so I snapped a pic. FS X really looks great now with the new 2407.
