I think Vox has an X2 4800 and two 7800GTX's - the great thing about photoscenery is it has less impact on frames than the MS default even with autogen [which you can add back in]. Even on my very modest machine I get my locked 25fps more or less all the time and that is with very high settings and a lowish resolution.

Acording to Vox FEX has liitle or no impact on the frame rate either...so good news there.

That's the RealAir Simulations Siai Marchetti SF260 depicted in omzig's screens. I bought it a while back and it's an awesome plane. Probl the best virtual ****pit I've ever seen and deffinately the best guages.

Vegas is a great place to start a flight. Take off from Nellis AFB (KLSV) head a few miles south to the vegas strip, then head east to Hoover Dam, the set a course NE into the Grand Canyon.

Along the way do a touch and go or stop for fuel at Grand Canyon national park (KGCN) then its NE to Page Municipal (KPGA)for the final stop.

Go to Skyvector.com and view the Grand Canyon VFR chart so you can plan your flight route.

Remember with photo scenery the more you zoom out the better it looks. What he has done in many of those shots, like the one below, is zoom way out while positioning the camera very close to the aircraft, to keep it large in the frame. I wish I knew what camera program he is using.

Wow. That's some of the best looking graphics I've seen EVER!

I mean the sun and the way the sun refracts of the plane. That's photo realism there.

I want to try this. Would the game work ok with a 360 control pad? Does it support more arcadey style controls?

I've not used a gamepad but slaWter used a PS2 pad on the easy setting and said he was able to complete most all of the missions, which can be quite challenging even with a joystick.

Basically if you set it to easy you get a simplified flight model, which is easier to control. For the most part you can jump right in and fly, becuase when you load up a flight in free flight mode you are all set up on the runway with the engine running, so all you have to do is throttle up and away you go.

Plus the missions/tutorials take you through all the basics with with a flight instructor that tells you just what to do, so its quite beginer friendly.

There's only a few keys you need to know for basic flight:

F1 - 0% throttle
F2 - Decrease in increments
F3 - Increase in increments
F4 - 100% throttle

G - Raise/lower langing gear

Other than that just use you game pad to stear. Once you learn more about aircraft operation you can get into using flaps, prop pitch, fuel mixture, and the other basics, but that stuff is not needed if you just want to fly around.

If you want a simple control method then try 'mouse yoke' it makes flying very easy - more so than a game pad. Use the wheel as a throttle and hold the space bar to 'free look'

I agree about FSX looking as good as anything out there - it constantly amazes me what it can do with; lighting, detail, weather and draw distance...it often is 'as real as it gets'

Switching to a diffrent topic but still within the realms of FSX
while i was poking around the interweb for a FSX camera utility i came across this

Free track as you may have guest from the title is a freeware trackIR like system that use's a standard webcam and a self made LED head mount to give you ingame 6DOF view

i've been playing with it for the last hour or so and even with just 1 LED stuck in the middle of a baseball cap(5 second hack job) which limited me to just two rotation DOF it was very impressive for something free!

Im off down maplins in a while to source a few more LED's/battery box i think i'll also pop to the local model shop for some wire to build myself BB cap harness with

if anyone else decides to give it a try in the meantime plz report your findings/settings
