water and bloom should have zero effect on cpu, it should be purely a gpu burden

Nope. Deluxe edition includes the Grumman Goose, digital ****pits for a few of the aircraft, and more high detailed airports. Being you can get standard so cheap, it makes more sense to get that, especially if you plan to fly any add ons.

Well its not purely a GPU burden. You obviouly didn't read the link to the developers blog which I posted last time you posed that question. It answers that question quite nicely.

Bloom and high water both require a second rendering pass. Read this blog post for details. Its a quick read.

i did read it, that should pace the extra burden squarely on the gpu. i cant imagine what they have done to possibly create extra cpu work out of this beyond the extremely trivial number of extra draw calls that might be required. rendering the world into a texture as a render target should be nothing but gpu work

This GPU comparison in FSX show just how CPU bound it is - less than 3 frames separate all the most recent nvidia cards and it's only when the res goes way up that significant differences start to show.

Is the ENTIRE WORLD accurate as far as
TIME is takes to get somewhere
SATTELITE BASED IMAGERY accurate down to the houses and world wonders and stuff?

and do you need

GAS and pit stops... or can you just fly EVERYWHERE???

1. Not sure

2. The imagery is not satellite based. There are world wonders, at least the Pyramids and Eiffel Tower. (Civ 4 wonders )

3. You can choose realistic fuel consumption or arcade infinite fuel

Yes, totally.

No the game comes on a couple DVD's, not a crate full of DVD's. If you want 2.5m-1m per pixel photo scenery its available for select areas. But there is a utility called tile proxy which streams google earth imagry in real time, so if you want to fly sattelite imagery ovwer the whole globe you can do so.

On the other hand pretty much the entire world is modeled with accurate elevation data, with correct placement of towns, cities, rivers, airports, national parks, mountains, valleys, hills, etc, with textures to match the given area.

As was already said this is an accurate simulation with accurate fuel consumption rates though you can enable unlimited fuel, and if you want to zoom in hyper speed you can do so with the slew function, otherwise you can start at nearly any airport in the world.

I really have to get this. Would be awesome to fly from Coffs Harbour to anywhere.

I hope Coffs Harbour is in there.
