No way! That's insane. I gotta go buy this. I think Target even has some copies of the Deluxe version still on the shelf. Hopefully on sale.
It is a little rough. I mean it's not as sandy as it makes out, but it's accurate enough |

There are freeware textures that address that desert look. I dl'd them from the Avsim.com library. http://www.avsim.com
I think the author's name was Adam Mills. He posted new textures for Europe and the North america. Both texture sets are 8 parts each. A search for his name should find them, I cant remem my password right now and I'm not home. |

Alright boys, this is what I call the Holy Grail of Free Scenery. New Zealand has never looked so good.
What we have here is Tim Barnes' Rotorua Volcanoes package, combined with Robin Corn's Rotorua Lakes package. Just go to the Avsim file library and search the FSX scenery section for "Rotorua". Both files will be displayed. Enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks mighty impressive Sillyeagle esp. when you consider it's for free, there certainly are some talented people out there - will take a look later, thanks for the heads-up.

Nice shots sillyeagle I'll be adding that to my download list (once my new monitor comes)
im FSX less atm as i somehow managed to dropped my 20"ws LG lastnight while rearranging my desktop area causing a small crack in the LED matrix it the bottom left hand corner which has rendered the whole bottom 1/3 of the monitor unviewable im a little miffed at myself but hey that what accidental damage home insurance is for right ....so i just ordered a 22" LG225WT WS to cheer myself up On another note did anyone else here try the FreeTrack head tracking software i posted about a few pages back? i just got a new webcam that does IR so i made a 4 point IR refeltive headset and i have to say that once you spend a little while tweaking the progy and build a headset to the posted PDF spec's it works a treat! i cant belive that this software is free FSX only has 2DOF(mouse look)atm (native 6dof is coming in 2.1 you can get 6dof in 2.0 but its a bit of messing about using another progy to emu your head movments to a virtual joystick i tried to set it up but FSX would'nt read the input from the virtual joystick eventhought the control pannel calibrater did) 2DOF in FSX is still cool though & the games ive tried native 6DOF in work amazing well rFactor/GL legends/EECH (community 1.9 version) all felt somuch better when i could move my virtual head so if your trackir-less and have a webcam and half a brain(needed to build the headset well not even half an brain really as you only need to place/wire 4 led's on a harness) go check out freetrack & there forums im glad i did as it saved me the £120 i was thinking about spending on a trackir system.... This is the valcano pack, which is the best part and pretty much what you see in the pics. Its very high resoltion, 1m I think, with a 5m mesh, so you will need to turn your graphics sliders up to get the most out of it. ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight...s_tarawera.zip This is the other package by Robin Corn, it only has 2.5m resolution, but covers 30 x 40km. ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight...onerotorua.zip Takeoff from Rotorua airport and fly to the East Southeast to see the area pictured.
