Well you can play it with a 360 pad but I would get a joystick with throttle slider and twist grip rudder at a minimum.

The DX10 feature set has not been released yet, but will be within days.

EDIT: It uses SLI but its pretty much CPU bound all the time, so any GPU works fine.

I finally decided to test FSX with Supersample antialising and I'm quite impressed. I think it speaks for its self, but it takes a lot of power to run it..

Not only does it remove virtually all aliasing, it really sharpens up the image. Most noticeably the writing and red lines.

These images are 1:1 crops of the aircraft preview window at 1600x1200, using 4x Supersampling, regular 16x AA, and 2x Supersampling. Even 2xSS looks better in ways yet gives good performance. The second set is 4xSS and 16xAA at 1.25x.

Here's a fun place to play. Takeoff at LSGK and follow the river.

OK, I picked up teh Delux Edition this afternoon along with a Saitek joystick with all teh rudder and throttle stuff.

Looking forward to having a blast tonight. Any tips for the best aircraft to fly and the location to fly from on my 1st go? Not bothered about about learning too much at first, just want a go in a fun plane to get the feel of the game.

Id suggest the hawaiian checkout from the missions section, its a nice flight and will break you in to taxi takeoff and landing quite nicely

after that id say try the san juan island run (with the option to take the guy to lake cushman) its a floatplane so dont forget to to drop your water rudder (ctrl+w)for a lot more control when turning on water

Well the location I mentioned above is one of the most scenic I have found, so thats a place you could try. From the free flight screen just type in the airport ID of LSGK to select that location. Its in the Alps. Fly west after taking off.

If you want to explore the Grand Canyon, which is really cool, take off at KGCN. Its 6 miles from the canyon.

As to aircraft the Grumman Goose is an easy one to fly, and quite fun as well. If you want something a little more sporty the Mooney Bravo is really quick as well as easy to fly. Something like the Extra 300 might take some practice to get used to as its quite squirrely.

Make sure you download SP1 for a 20-40% performance boost, and when you setup the graphics do not enable bloom as it kills performance. SP1 does have an issue on some systems where there are tons of blurries, so if you see blurries all the time then uninstall SP1 and wait for SP2.

Here's the Goose.

Here's the RealAir Spirfire over the Himalayan foot hills, using the FS9 freeware mesh.

Well, i've had the game a couple if days now. Got off to a slow start but i've done most of the tutorials now and i'm getting quite in to it. I'd forgotton how addictive it was. It really does kick the **** out of the PC though don't it!

Graphically stunning in the right place and time. Those new screen-shots in the Accelerator thread look amazing. Can't wait to use it in DX10.

Freetack 2.1 released!

http://www.free-track.org/english/

2.1 Now includes full 6DOF for FSX so now theres need to pay 100 for a trackir system when a 7 webcam and freetrack do just as good a job

If you have'nt tryed head tracking in a flight sim i suggest you take a look at freetrack as its an amazing piece of software that just adds another level of immersion to any sim/game that supports head tracking i just cant flight without it now

Don't you have to make a fancy "hat" though? It says it picks up the light from infrared LEDs....which would mean your "hat" would have to have batteries on it.

Cool idea though. I'll stick with my TrackIR though.
