I tryed tileproxy but it was really slow and it took ages to load an area(20 mins for grand canyon) and then ages for the highrez tiles to snap in

So i did a bit more poking around on how to take google or other earth service data and stuff it into FSX and found a program called FS earth tiles which allows you to pull in tiles from various earth services and then re-encodes the data for use as FSX scenery,it takes a while to grab and encode the files and theres no autogen or water masking atm but it shows alot of promise for the more barren areas of the planet

i just started to grab the Grand Canyon with it (again this is using fsgenesis mesh) i'll post more when the area's complete

Short DX 10 sp2 self shadowing ****pit vid

http://blogs.msdn.com/sebby1234/arch...owing-vcs.aspx

Not sure if its enough to make me go to vista but combined with better water and maybe usable bloom it might just make me consider dual booting

Looks like you are zoomed way in and looking out into the distance. The textures are never sharp in the distance, which is outside of the LOD radius, and problably why there is hardly any autogen in those pics. Try using 1.00 zoom or less. Mostly when I fly I am at .6-.8 zoom.

Sweet many thx for the link

Cant seem to find Computer pilot instore anywhere here in the UK only an mag call pc pilot (no where near as good imo)

Just found this pretty sweet Acceleration DX10 ingame movie by Jun Kazama

http://www.oldrose.org/FSX/FSX_Accel...preview_03.wmv

Got the van+ installed now(had a few problems with the install but a quick vist to there forums helped clean it up fast)Its a Very sweet addon (if a little heavy of fps while downtown)and having a dig through my bits and pieces from swap box i found out id also got the perfect accompaniment in AeroSoft's BeaverX
i'll grab a few shots of there reworked beaver (its loads better than the default fsx beaver)once my defrag completes(atleast i got something to read now while i wait) its a very cool plane & there are about 40 variations of skins and VC skins + the dash mounted gps is very handy

Cheers
Gizmo

Wow I thought the default beaver was pretty darn nice, so I'm surprised to hear Aerosofts is that much better. Yeah I'd like to see some shots showing it off if you could.

EDIT: I looked at Aerosofts site, and it does look to be nicer. The US Army variant has that old rugged look which I like.

Thanks for the screenshots.

This is funny, there's a UFO in FSX!

You don't see it until the last 20 seconds of the vid.

Question Drab ground textures

Hi all,
I just started playing Flight sim x and wasnt very impressed with what I saw.
I am having issues with the Ground which looks like a crayon board and the ground texture and detail disturbs me a bit.
I am using Core 2duo E6600 2.66,4Gigs Ram at 800 mhz,8800gtx,Win Xp/Vista,Raptor 80Gig + 250gb seagate.
WHat can i do to improve the graphics and also how do i take a scrrenie to show here.
Thanks

Well i use fraps for my screen grabs

One thing i will say is make sure you defrag(using a proper defrag utillity i use O&O complete/name) after you install fsx+sp1

If you can post a few screen shots of your issues we can see if you have the very common FSX blurries or if like many other ppl you just think the default FSX ground textures suck (which quite a few of them do)

i have to say FSX is the worst sim or game ive ever had to tweak to find that gfx vs frame rate sweet spot

it almost felt like a beta when it was release and sp1 added as many problems as it fixed i just hope sp2 manages to fix what they broke in sp1 (blurries skippy water ect ect)
