Yeah all reports I've received from friends on DX10 FSX have been luke warm at best. MS did a piss poor job with this game from top to bottom, the devs should be ashamed of themselves. They managed to make a game that eats resources while looking and flying like *****.

FSX needs a higher end cpu to run properly. These shots are downsized from 1920x1200 running on a modest 8600gt. I get 20+ fps on all of these shots. |

Some of the shots are the Tatra photo scenery which I just recently got delivery from. It is okay.... problem is I don't think it is worth the $40 I paid for it because it is such a small area. Although, it does include 4 season mesh.
The other is a free addon pack of the Italian alps. It can be downloaded off avsim by seaching under "fsx scenery" for "italy photo alps". There are 2 100 meg files and to be honest, they are very high quality imo. Only 1 season, but just as high of quality as the tatra mountains. Would like to purchase the Swiss pro for fsx, but I don't know if it is even released or if there are plans to release it. Hope that helps. |

In regards to the SP1/SP2 blurries, here is some testing I did.
I set all settings to the min/zero value except for the ones needed to produce sharp ground textures. So mesh is at 38m, textures at 1m, LOD Radius at max, and global textures at max. Everything else is far left. The resolution is 1152 with AF, locked at 21fps. These are all full speed in the SF260. The first two are after I isntalled SP1. I deleted the cfg and the results did not change. ![]() ![]() This is the same test after uninstalling SP1, all settings are the same. There is a resolution transition line where the red mark is, and while it would get a little bit closer, it stayed about the same distance out. With SP1 that line soon passes right by, and then the next wave of progressive blurr might even move in. ![]() And just to show how good the RTM version works, here are my normal settings, and the normal texture clarity of FSX. The RTM version is still the best in my opinion, though if I stick with it I'm left out of many add ons. I hope the problem can still be found. ![]() ![]()

Nice comparison... you would think the frame rates would be lower from the SP1 screens... but they're not!

Just curious what setup do you guys use for flight sims? I use a Microsum Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 with CH Prodcuts Throttle, and Trackir 4. I love the Force Feedback 2 as it's very precise.
