Sure SlaWter np

Copy this code to a new txt file and then rename it to Rain40.fx

Code:
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#include "Rain40.fxh"

struct VS_INPUT
{
    float4  vPosition : POSITION;
    float4  cColor    : COLOR0;
    float2  TexCoord  : TEXCOORD;
};

struct VS_OUTPUT
{
    float4 vPosition    : SV_POSITION;
    float4 cDiffuse     : COLOR;
    float2 TexCoord0    : TEXCOORD0;
    float2 TexCoord1    : TEXCOORD1;
};

VS_OUTPUT VS(const VS_INPUT In)
{
    VS_OUTPUT Out = (VS_OUTPUT) 0;
    Out.vPosition = mul(In.vPosition, g_mWorldViewProjection);
    Out.cDiffuse = In.cColor;
    Out.TexCoord0 = mul(In.TexCoord, g_mTextureTransforms[0]);
    Out.TexCoord1 = mul(In.TexCoord, g_mTextureTransforms[1]);
    Out.TexCoord0 += g_mTextureTransforms[0][2];
    Out.TexCoord1 += g_mTextureTransforms[1][2];
    return Out;
}

float4 PS(const VS_OUTPUT In): SV_TARGET
{
    float4 cColor0 = txTexture0.Sample(samSampler, In.TexCoord0);
    float4 cColor1 = txTexture1.Sample(samSampler, In.TexCoord1);
    return float4(1,1,1,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);
}

DepthStencilState EnableDepth
{
DepthEnable = TRUE;
DepthWriteMask = ALL;
DepthFunc = LESS_EQUAL;
};

DepthStencilState DisableDepth
{
DepthEnable = FALSE;
DepthWriteMask = ZERO;
};

technique10 T0
{
    pass P0
    {
        SetVertexShader(CompileShader(vs_4_0, VS()));
        SetGeometryShader(NULL);
        SetPixelShader(CompileShader(ps_4_0, PS()));
        SetDepthStencilState( DisableDepth, 0 );
    }
}
then goto your

\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ShadersHLSL\misc

and make a copy/backup of Rain40.fx

then replace the original file with the new modded one

now goto your

X:\Users\<Your Name Here>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders10\Shader sHLSL\misc

folder and remove/delete the

Rain40.fx_0x4700000000000000_0x0f

file

Once you rerun FSX in dx10 mode it will recompile and replace the shader code with the new fixed code

If you dont like the bight white of the rain streaks(i didnt)

you can alter the rgb values in the line

return float4(1,1,1,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

to

return float4(0,0,0,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

and repeat the steps above to force a new recompile

that will give you much darker rain which does'nt obscure your view as much in flight the only downside to this is it also alters the colour of the snow effect as the 2 seem to be interlinked at a shader level

Hope that helps

I've just been playing around, so here's a couple quickies. An empty 747 can do some pretty amazing stuff, as seen by this impressive climb out from Dillingham.

The Captain Sim C-130 is quite a piece of work, and easily one of the best add ons you can buy for FSX. I've spent way too much on this stuff recently, though I've got most everything I want at the moment, so I don't think I'll be getting anything else until the Realair Merlin/Griffon Spitfire comes out, which might happen in March.

I'll try to put together some more C-130 shots when I get time.

Or is this normal? At least it's not that bad anymore
You can reduce the tunnel effect by altering the transparency of the shaders output

alter this line from

return float4(1,1,1,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

to

return float4(0.5,0.5,0.5,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

and take the above steps to remove and recompile the shader

You can try a few other values

return float4(1,1,1,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

will give you dark rain looks better in the day but also effects the colour of the snow effect...

ive got it set at

return float4(0.4,0.4,0.4,In.cDiffuse.w) * (cColor0 + cColor1);

which i find x100 better than the default

Cheers

Yeah I just like playing with the flight models, and I always end up flying the 747 like a military variant doing extreme manouvers. lol

Thanks for that mesh link.

Hi there! Long time no see.
I also have some problems:
1. Is there a way to make the shadows darker in FSX?

2. By the way, all my ad-on planes (Eurofighter Typhoon, Tiger Moth, F117, etc) don't work properly, I mean they don't load the textures under dx10. Is there a way to fix that, or is a Microsoft or nVidia problem?

Microsoft made some alterations which affect backward compatibility. You can fix most of the texture problems. You just need to re save the textures in dxt format.

More details can be found in project manager Phil Taylor's blog,

Probably a dumb question, but how do I open the extended range of 2D panels? Like the overheard 2D, side panel 2D, etc.

I think it's shift+2. It opens the simicon panel.

16xS supersampling looks amazing, and I don't appear to seeing a performance hit with it. If you've got an 8800GTX you might want to give it a try.
