Hey thanks. I'm going to get UTC, GEX and Xclass for USA as its only $10. Does it matter what order I install them in?

I guess not. As long as you layer the xclass landclass as shown in that link I posted in order to obtain best results.
And don't forget to defrag after all that. It's prob gonna bulk up your fsx install by 5-6gb or so. I know we've discussed it before, but imo the best FSX addon is head tracking. If you cant presently get a tir, maybe try one of the freeware's with a cheap web cam. I'm not sure how they work, but maybe it will give you a taste. TIR works flawlessly for me and I hate flying without it. http://www.cachya.com/esight/overview.php edit: 31 new utx europe screens of various cities. http://www.simforums.com/forums/foru....asp?TID=25020 |

I'm sure I'll get TrackIR eventually, its just easier to impulse buy on stuff you get to download right away. lol
I got UTX, GEX, and Xclass. I really like the UTX, the roads and encasements are very very nice, as are the streams and rivers. I wish the highway textures didn't have cars painted on them though. GEX is pretty nice. The only thing I don't like is being photo based textures the blurriness of the lower LOD versions is more apparent, so blurries are more noticeable for me. Otherwise the textures are better than the defaults in most cases, but its not as impressive as I thought it was going to be. I find it a bit annoying when flying over a place like NY where all the landclass textures are aligned diagonally compared to the road textures, rather than being aligned with the NY traffic grid. Xclass is another story. There is nothing I like about this product, so its good it was only $10. I've tried it in quite a few locations and in every case I found it is less accurate than the default landclass, and it adds "blotches" all over the place. Looks like my terrain is poka dotted with different land class dots. On top of that it adds these 20 mile long and 1 mile wide strips of urban development in the middle of nowhere, even with the UTX urban on top of it. Xclass just seems to be very random rather, which is especially apparent in national parks where xclass overwrites the accurate land class with randomness. Over all UTX and GEX adds a higher fidelity look but doesn't transform the sim for me like it has others. Was it $75 well spent? Probably not, but its something to toy around with.

Here's some camparisons. I wasn't too impressed seeing what these products did to my home town area and the national parks I fly at, but it seems to excell at urban areas, which is something I rarely fly in. Luckily its easy to turn any given layer off, so I can pick and chose what I want to see.
All Images have GEX applied. The first three are: FSX default, with UTX applied, and then with Xclass applied. UTX turns all the snow gaps grey. The second set shows default and then with UTX applied. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You can get rid of the 2d car textures in utx's config menu.
