Though I do have to admit after playing around with the EH101 a bit today it does seem that the newest drivers have lessened the issue substantially.

Sabadin, (or any other ATI/FSX owners)

Would you please view this youtube video and confirm that you have this exact type of taxiway/runway texture flashing issue with your ATI DX10 card?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffSW-fnom-c

Phil Taylor from ACES claims it's due to a nvidia driver bug. If you are indeed experiencing this exact symptom I think Phil has some more explaining to do. I want to be specific about the problem.

If ATI users do have this problem it would be fairly discouraging because it would leave me to believe that Phil is wrong and it's an FSX bug. Since the FSX code is frozen and we have virtualy zero chance of another patch from Microsoft, I hope it is a driver issue.

I'd like to find out from Phil exactly what hardware and driver revision they used to develop the dx10 routines. I'd like to see it working perfectly myself.

Curiouser & Curiouser....

Either this is a hardware fault on both ATI & Nv first gen dx10 hardware or mr PT is telling porky pies...

Theres a few posts over at AVsim that say diffrent but they all seem to be both running 3780x2's

"I am using a 3780 X2 ATI for Vista and DX10... and my use
of Vista is only for testing, and, even with that I do not use
DX10 in FSX with Vista except where I was required to test the
DX10 results, which... hmmmm OK, I will probably get smacked
like I did posting benchmarks last year, but ... it put Nvidia
to shame for no issues and solid performance.

I would not go there with current Nvidia offerings and
regular use of FSX

Just my opinion"
Another ATI user Jaap again on a x2 runnig under cat 8.2 posted this
Quote:
Here's my DX10 report with Radeons: Once a month and after new drivers, I check the DX10 Preview (in the past with Vista32 and Vista64, now with Vista64 alone) to have a look.

To date the results were always the same here: Vsync doesn't work although checked and certain FSX elements still don't display properly in DX10 mode. No joy, I can't stand being out of sync with my V.

But no artefacts like flashing runways etc. For DX10, Vista32 is maybe the better bet at the moment?
Humm i think the only real way to get to the bottom of this maybe to either pop for an ATI dx10 card or forward this issue to some of the main hardware sites for extensive testing....

I know that DX10 mode is'nt what they promised but it can give fantastic results with a few tweaks but the issues that remain with it driver bugs or not are a PITA

Talking of DX10 i found the DX10/bloom sun to be a little weak (both vc and outside) so i just started playing with a few of my own replacement textures

Heres a few shots of the results sofar (combined with FEX for clouds and sky tone,if you dont own FEX i suggest you get it ASAP its the best single addon i ever brought for FSX)

Im also working on a replacement for the lightning/storm system as the one that Aces made is well a bit of a joke....i'll post some more info on that later in the week

Cheers

Ty Sabadin.

Now I'm not sure what to think, but it looks more like an ACES problem.

I get that runway clipping with the Meigs Field freeware in DX9, but that might be the fault of the Meigs scenery....

Psh. Lame, Meigs Field is gone. It's a concert venue now.

Get with the times, man...

My New fav toy Alphasim T-6 Texan Sp2 Update

As you can see the exterior model looks fantastic but again AS is let down by there 2nd rate VC's (i'll grab some shots nex time i fire it up) infact ive seen some freeware planes with much better VC's infact almost all of the default Aces planes have better VC's

Time to go grab some of the repaints for version 1 off of Avsim and hack them into the updated version i think
