The more I fly it the more I think it's the best FSX aircraft. I'd always wanted a Digital Aviation aircraft after reading about the systems in their Dorneir.

It cost me about as much as the C130X, but man I think it has way better sounds, systems, and deffinately better VC lighting. The exterior models are comparable in quality.

It also features a Trimble nav system instead of the default Garmin. Something slightly retro and different.

No use harping about exchange rates but, ,they suck. Anyway I bought it from SimMarket as a digital dl.

I just added the SF260 panel mod again. Its a basically a white panel with static shadows added, but only for the left seat. I really like it.

My god, things have improved since I last looked into the Flight Sim scene. Looks like I need to invest in FSX. I was going to skip FSX and wait for the next one since the DX10 update didn't come to much. Is there anyone who uses the DX10 version? is there any improvement?

FTX 60 AU BLUE region freeware airfields released go get them

http://www.fullterrain.com/freeware.html

Ten months in the making, and hand-crafted by Mark Lee, Barry Meiklejohn, Martin Henare and John Venema, these sixty photoreal airfields for FSX are available for anyone to use and enjoy. You don't have to be an existing Orbx customer or FTX user and there are no strings attached.

These texture matched airstrips are designed to blend seamlessly with FTX AU BLUE. The majority of strips you will find in this package are small airfields designed for general aviation (GA) flight. Some are farm strips – sharing a paddock with crops; some are mining strips – designed for twin engine turboprop fly-in, fly-out operations; some are small strips servicing rural communities or tourism operations; and occasionally you will find larger airports that have had the FTX ground texture makeover, such as YMHB Hobart.

Gonna drop for FTX later on tonight this thread has cost me far tomuch money you know

As i recall for those shots remade/replaced the following fsx files

texture\ sun.bmp , sunglow.bmp & corona1.bmp

You can get around the same effect by tweaking the alpha channels of the default textures
and also tweaking some values in your suneffect.cfg

The reason the sun looks so weak under DX10 is that the alpha blend is more precise under dx10 so the glow cuts off a lot earlyer,im still tweaking the textures for this and blends atm and when im happy i'll drop it on AVsim or some other fs freeware sites

heres a few shots from my last tweak which has fatter corona rays

Some of these scenery addons look very nice. Where are you purchasing them from... online downloads or in a store?

UTX EU patch 1.1 released today. Porky one at that, 328mb.

Quote:
We are very pleased to finally announce the release of our UTX Europe V1.1 patch. This patch is a very comprehensive upgrade, which will provide some significant enhancements across Europe.

Highlighted enhancements:

More accurate landclass in the cities, with a brand new overhaul of the non-urban (vegetation) landclass outside the cities. UTX Europe now provides a complete landclass environment for FSX.
Over 13,500 hand-drawn water features have been added across Europe.
Over 100 reported enhancement requests have been addressed in V1.1.
Patch Instructions:

Please read the detailed patch overview, before installing the patch. The patch overview can be read by clicking here.

After reading the overview, please carefully read the patch instructions, which also contain a link to the patch download. You can read the instructions by clicking here.

You can also download the patch, and any other patches, from the Scenery Solutions download site below:

http://www.scenerysolutions.com/ut_downloads.html

Enjoy the patch. We would like to thank all the people that contributed to the development and testing of this patch over the last 5 weeks.

The next patch for Europe will be some time away. My guess, is that this will occur near the end of the summer. The focus over the next few months will be on patches for UTX Canada, UTX Usa and the new UTX Alaska product.

I was actually in Australia a couple years ago, which gives me extra interest in FTX. I spent two weeks in Australia and two months in New Zealand. I totally forgot about the Australian travel guide sitting by my desk. Its 600 full color pages of awesome photography and maps, so I'm going to dig into it and see what kind of shots I can line up. I'm amazed at how much scenery is packed into the coverage area, most of which I have yet to see any screens of.

You can get some nice australian and new zealand scenery from sim pilot, like the 20m mesh, but its really spendy. In NZ I was in the Marlborough area, and I got to drive around the country a bit which was cool, so I'm somewhat interested in getting some of the NZ stuff, including the RealNZ Marlborough photoscenery, since its covers part of the country I was in, and one of the airports, but I could easily drop $130 with the way they have stuff priced. lol

Here's a quick mesh comparison I did. I was interested in seeing how the 76m Australia mesh would compare to the 20m. I also did 10m and 38m for comparison. This is with the California 10m Mesh+. The images were reduced to 60%.
