I tend to think its the best add on for FSX. Not only is the model sweet, but its got some of the best VC gauges, flight model, and sounds around. I like to fly it with the wing tip tanks empty and the main tanks at 50%. Its pretty responsive that way.

Yeah, I must get the SF-260 as well...I had a go on someone else’s FSX, and it is a wonderful aircraft. I wish they would hurry up with the Spitfire though.

Loving these hi-res FEX clouds - stills just don't covey how real these things look in motion, completely natural.

What kind of frame rate hit do you get with those coulds? I wonder if I were to use 4096 clouds if I'd still have enough video memory to run 16xS supersampling at 1600x1200.

Those 4096 clouds sure look good, but I'm thinking I will try REX when it comes out. I want to see some more casual and unsharpened shots though, and not just the artistic ones Tim posts.

These are some shots creeping in from a few people [Mango, John Venema] running REX clouds, and the difference between Tim's shots and those is vast, because they're just normal-use screenshots. Tim is very good a creating stylised, artistic shots, which in a way misrepresents what most people are going to see from the product. That's not to say it won't be good, I'm sure it will, but it won't be all that different to what is already available.

I'm certainly glad to arguing seems to have stopped at FSW, at least for now, that sort of thing does no one any good

As for the frame rate hit - well very little surprisingly, though vid mem usage touches 490mb - so there is not much to spare.

How easy is it to install & run FTX?

Do you start FSX as normal & run from there?

How do i know if i'm running FTX?

Sorry for the noobish questions, i have FSX & am just not impressed with the bog standard scenery.

Thanks.

Very easy - just install and away you go. There is a mode switch, that puts an icon on your desktop, to allow you to switch FTX on and off - it is on by default after installation, but you can switch it off should you find it interferes with any other scenery, when flying outside the FTX area.

I've yet to have a problem leaving it on all the time...and you will know it's running when you load up a flight and see wonderful scenery instead of the rubbish MS provide in this region.

Try the Hobart area, Tasmania first - the mission is a good start too, and is in this area.
