This is Aerosofts Lord Howe Island off the Coast of Australia. To use it with FTX and Acceleration it seems you need custom files though. Apparently the installer overwrites the default autogen files and uses a pre acceleration file of all things. So you lose the acceleration entries as well as those added by FTX. Go to the thread below where Nils has created a set of modified files. Basically the Lord Howe entries have been added manually to the FTX modified and acceleration files. Make sure you turn FTX mode off before installing any scenery add ons.

So, I reinstalled XP after using Vista pretty much exclusively since before it's release because I was having problems with Vista x86 and FSX. While I was getting the system ready for XP and preparing to scrap Vista I decided to throw Vista x64 back on in a dual boot config to see if I could get better results. It turns out that FSX in Vista x64 under DX9 performs better for me than it does in XP. Who'd a thunk it? I'm finally pleased with my performance and best of all I can stick with Vista and when they fix DX10 for FSX I'll be ready to go.

Sillyeagle, I'm getting well over 30fps in most scenarios at 16QAA, 16xAF, 1360x768, with the settings you recommended.

I would try 8xS supersampling with nHancer. It looks many times better than 16x multisampling, and it might even perform better. If you've got enough GPU headroom for 16xQ there's no reason not to move to supersampling. It makes a huge difference on aircraft textures.

I've got supersampling enabled in the CP.

Just delete it. FSX will rebuild a new one when you launch the program again.

Supersampling in the CP only applies to transparency AA, so it only effects transparency textures, such as chain link fences, foliage, etc. If you want supersampling applied to the aircraft or the rest of the scene the only way to get it is via nHancer. If you don't want to mess with it thats cool, but can't live without it now that I've used it.

Yep all the 17x.xx Drivers suck donkey balls in FSX,Infact any driver but 169.44 in the last 6 months sucks for FSX on my system,I dout Nv have looked at there FSX driver code snice Acceleration shipped as they havent fixed any of the large number of issues with FSX under DX10 (ATI dont have the same problems)

PhilT from Aces it seem has contacted them a number of times about the problems but they just have'nt done jack **** about it....i hope ATI can pull another 9700pro out the bag next gen as i cant wait to dump Nv as there driver support is pretty ****ty for anything that doesnt feature a benchmark.....

It was always ATI that had crap drivers, but Nv do seem pretty poor recently - I find all the 174's a bit stuttery, esp. when there is a lot of pressure on the system.

I'm still using the 174.82's which seem ok in FSX and I have not has a single crash with them - but the best driver of late for me is 169.61 [which is a quadro performance driver ] this in with XP though.
