Default help!nvidia drivers dosen't work well with geforce2 go under redhat 8

Acer TravelMate 630(using a geforce2 go 32MB)+redhat 8.0.
After I installed the 1.0-4191 driver,The XWindows works well(either kde or gnome). However after I log out to text mode,
the screen became very dark and dullish, and flickered strongly.
I have tried the 1.0-3123 driver too ,and got the same result.

if I use the "vesa" driver, after starting xwindow and logging out
to text mode,the screen's lightness was natural,and it didn't
fickered any longer. But, almost all characters can't be displayed(
e.g,after i excute 'ls' command ,many filename can't be displayed)

did anyone meet the same problem?
