I had this very problem with IE7 when I first downloaded the beta for it months ago. But it didn't do it after that one time. And the Vista version of IE7 hasn't done it once yet (I've been using vista all the time now for a few weeks). So yeah, it was kind of frustrating. It killed close to 20 of my bookmarks. But only the once

Kill it!! Kill it now before it's too late!
Does it delete bookmarks in custom subfolders as well as just the general bookmark? |

it doesn't delete them
it removes the Web Document tab in properties, so the bookmark is there, but its blind, doesn't know where it supposed to be pointing to

making bookmarks read-only slowed it down, but still happens
before it was about 5-8 booksmarks a day, now its about 1-2 booksmarks a day

Make sure you have all the latest updates from http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate, also if you have the beta version of IE7, install the final release from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/
