Yeah but 3dmark is always going to run like arse no matter what. You could get 999 fps in your favorite game, but only 10 - 15 in 3dmark.

& for more accurate & apples to apples comparsion heres how a GeForce 8800GTX fare againest X1950XTX CF / 7950 Quad in 3DMark06 (@1280x1024) :
GeForce 7950GX2 Quad-SLI SM2.0 = 3812 SM3.0/HDR = 3462 Radeon X1950XTX CF SM2.0 = 4195 SM3.0/HDR = 4629 GeForce 8800GTX SM2.0 = 4783 SM3.0/HDR = 4905 source : http://we.pcinlife.com/thread-641408-1-1.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...li-two_24.html Obviously the 8800GTX is pwning all whether its SM2.0 or SM3.0/HDR (thanks to nidclxvi for pointing out the typo in the source)EDIT : (I think the 7950GX2 single numbers are not correct from the source .. so i'll remove them for now)

Hmm
I get 4543 in sm 2.0 now with 06 @ default and 4627 in sm 3.0. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=575909 Of course my card is @ 603|800. Still 4905 in sm 2.0 is better. Wonder how the 8800 GTX will OC...

Hmm...
I don't know if I'll be getting two GTXs after all. I doubt they'd fit in my case. ![]() On top of that, I bought a 700 watt OCZ GameXtream PSU thinking that'd be plenty of power. But I'm starting to feel otherwise. And I really don't like the idea of using one of those 5 1/4" bay PSUs just for one video card. If it does turn out that the GTXs will fit in my case, then what I'm going to do is just purchase the PSU that Xion has. I'm sure that should be sufficient. ![]() Then again, I could just go with two GTSs and call it good. No need for a new powersupply, and the cards are sure to fit- I hope. Tough choices that's for sure. |
