According to this: http://www.pcdvd.com.tw/showthread.p...5&page=4&pp=10

Unknown system specs (but probably C2D or C2Q)
GeForce 8800GTX ----> FEAR 4xAA/8xAF 1600x1200 80fps
16xAA/8xAF 1600x1200 34fps

On the same settings GF7900GTX hits 47fps....

With 4800+ , QuadSLI , 4xAA,16xAF@1600x1200 i get 86fps. not bad at all for a single GPU card!

What I was wondering was...

Will the GF8 series be able to play older games, such as DX8 and older titles? Cause I still play some such as 4x4 Evo2, SoF2, JK series, DF titles, older NFS titles, OFP + Expansions, etc. I hope that the GF8 series can still play these games without any sort of performance penalty.
Why not.....

The question u have to ask is..when u move to Vista..will these games work at all

One thing that is weighing heavily on my mind is DX9.0L. For those who have not heard about it, it's been said it's basically DX10 for XP.

"According to The Inquirer Microsoft will release DirectX 9.0 L for Windows XP. This will basically be a renamed DirectX 10 for Windows XP.
It will make DirectX 10 games to work on Windows XP. And games such as the upcoming Crysis won't work on the existing DirectX 9.0 c. they need a DirectX 9.0 L"

I want to know how this is going to effect everything. It almost makes me almost want to wait until Crysis and cost drops or maybe until we see a 8850GTS or something. Geez the next three or four months are going to be exciting.

The Inquirer was full of it on 9.0L. There's a thread around here somewhere about it.

Hahaha, that was complete nonsense, they admitted they completely messed that rumour up....there is gonna be NO Directx10 for XP

It was actually to me one of the funniest screwups by the inquirer ever, because even a 5 year old googling could have found that out

Fetching dang it:
Inquirer
"UNFORTUNATELY, we were wrong about DirectX 9.0 L.
We managed to confirm the existence of DirectX 9.0L but it won't be a DirectX 10 for Windows XP. It will be the other way around. It is a faster version of DirectX 9.0 that will run under Vista only."

dammit dammit dammit I want one! My projector only does 1280x720 so I think I'll just get one of these. I'll go sli if I absolutely have to but I would like to eliminate most compatibility problems with a single card as long as I can. I run at such a weeny resolution anyway. I think I'll use my 4800x2 cpu a little while longer until crysis comes out or until I really notice a difference in game performance. An onboard physics chip ought to help out with the cpu though. Damn I can't wait!
