But how they can get by with doing that, I don't know. Maybe there is a legal method or something? Not sure.

I would bet that it is perfectly legal or they wouldn't be doing it... to risky financially.

Actually as far as I know Microsoft changed that license sometime ago so you do not need to purchase hardware along with it.

That makes sense. I had a hunch these sites wouldn't be selling them like that if it wasn't legal.

I'm gonna pull the trigger on one 8800GTX, hopefully supplies won't be "that" limited..

Do you guys think there is any chance a GTX will fit in my Thermaltake Tsunami(VA3000SWA)?

Dimensions 19.5" x 8.3" x 18.9"(HxWxD)

I'm a bit worried due to the HDD cage. have the dimensions of the GTX card been released yet? If so I could jsut measure my case space....

That looks to be a pretty huge case. Even at that, I'm guessing the 8800GTX will be a tight fit.

Ok, so this one says GDDR3... I guess the one place that said it used GDDR4 was full of crap.

That is kinda what I figured. Although, I do anticipate that G81 will use GDDR4. I guess right now nVidia feels that G80 wont be bottlenecked by the memory. Let's hope that they are right.

Well that's good.

Now that begs the question... if nVidia can make XP drivers for a "unified shader" card... then why is DX10 Vista only?

According to MS it has to do with unified shader archiecture... now that seems to be BS if a DX10 card will run on XP (albeit in DX9 mode). Or am I missing something?

DX10.. I don't even know if it's compatible with XP, but if it were, it wouldn't benefit nearly as much. There are a lot of optimizations for gaming that have been thrown into Vista that XP doesn't have; a lot of CPU overhead has been removed as well as optimizations with the API.

This explains it better:

Yeah, I noticed that as well.

Edit 2: Definitely think the GDDR3 is correct. I noticed in the pic of the ASUS box, it says DDR3 on it. It's blurry but you can make it out.

Edit: MS said that DX10 wouldn't be ported to XP b/c they'd have to make too many compromises. I think it was addressed in one of the interview links.
