i guess its the right move from nvidia as SM3.0/HDR is being involved more & more into the new & next gen games.
My 7950 GX2 gets 33 points more in SM3.0 than in SM2.0.

I am SOOOOOO glad I bought a new PC&Power Cooling ps I should be golden for a GTS,and maybe even SLI with a newer mobo + cpu, down
the proverbial road of course. As long as I can snag one for 5 bills or less.I'll let that hold me over until K8L hits, and then re-examine the cpu market.
Until then my current build with 1 GTS will be smokin !

^ I tend to think that an 8800GTX used only for physics would be a tad overkill.

In other words, if you do this then you can probably walk off your back porch and pick a George Washington off a tree branch. How about sparing those of us who hope to pick one(or possibly two) up on launch day by not doing this, please? A 7600GT or the like will do just fine for physics, and it would be 400-500$ cheaper, too.

I do realize that you were probably kidding, but this request goes out to everyone.

Tri-SLI ftw!

or maybe 8800GTX SLI + GF7/low-end , mid-range GF8 card for physics.
