Unless G80 has some kinda fix, soft-shadows aren't supposed to work with in-game AA enabled on FEAR. Are you sure you were getting soft-shadows on that one benchmark? Because you can enable them in-game but on current-gen cards they won't show up unless all AA (both in-game and graphics-utility AA) is disabled.

From the FEAR readme file:
My 7800GT was considerably lower in temperature (73 under heavy load). I'm not sure about the soft shadow thing, these drivers that came with the card on the CD suck some major balls. They aren't WHQL or anything.

Most ForceWare drivers aren't WHQL. WHQL really has no impact on performance whatsoever; it's really just a technicality.

So did you pick your card up at a retail store or did you order over the phone?

Kind of both. I called them and asked if they had it, they said yes, and I told them to hold it for me I'll be right there. I must have asked the girl like 5 times "Are you SURE I can some pick it up today?". She's like "Yes, sir, yes you can."

Funny thing is at first she said they only had 5 GTS's so I reserved one of those for pick up. I kept asking her "Are you SURE you don't have the GTX series?", she was like "Nope."

Then like 2 minutes after I got off the phone, I got a call back. She said "Sir, I'm sorry about that but yes in fact we DO have one GTX left" I was like "BITCH HOLD THAT CARD FOR ME I'LL BE RIGHT THERE"

And about the drivers: you can totally tell they are beta. The menus don't work half of the time and some of the settings stay on even though you switch them off.

I really need G80...

I just wanted to get some gaming in so I played Quake 3 Arena... and I had to turn my settings way down at 1024x768x16bit to get it smooth.

This card is HORRIBLE.

I dont know. I swear my old Voodoo 3 2000 PCI ran Quake 3 faster than this mx200.

MSI 8800 GTX for sale? And, there is no indication of a preorder, etc. Hmmm.

And, what awaits. E6600, stock with MSI 8800 GTX, stock. Looks good to me

And, a little OC does wonders:

My two 7600GT's never go above 60*C even under the heaviest load. And both are slightly oc'd.

My previous card, the 6800GT, never went passed about 53*C- and that was at an oc of 405/1.19.

So as you can see the temp of the GTX under full load is an extremely huge jump from what I'm accustomed to.

Again, I hope that the GTS doesn't run nearly as hot.

When overclocked, my GX2 ran at 92C under load

When not overclocked it ran in the high 70C range... idle...

I really cant wait to go back to a single card setup. Well, I guess I'm using a single card setup right now... but an mx200 isnt quite enough power for me. It gets choppy when I move windows around.
